About: grepmail searches a normal or compressed mailbox (gzip, bzip2, or tzip) for a given regular expression and returns those emails that match the query. It also supports searches constrained by date and size. Changes: Bugfixes for better 'mutt' compatability.
About: gfortune is a replacement for the traditional Berkeley fortune program included with the BSD games package. This implementation supports recursion down a tree of fortune files, the option to limit the number of lines output (for scripting), and other features. It fully maintains the functionality of the original. It includes the author's own archive of fortune files. Changes: First public release
About: Eterm is a vt102 terminal emulator intended as a replacement for xterm. It is designed with a Freedom of Choice philosophy, leaving as much power, flexibility, and freedom as possible in the hands of the user. It is designed to look good and work well, but takes a feature-rich approach rather than one of minimalism. Current features include color support, background images (all Imlib-supported formats), theme support, and pseudo-transparency. Changes: This release adds a new, more complete man page, shading and tinting for pixmaps *and* transparency by percentage or hex mask, speed-ups and improvements in transparency handling, a more robust error handler, an integrated background randomization tool, and more.
About: INN (InterNetNews) is an extremely flexible and configurable Usenet / netnews news server. It supports accepting articles via either NNTP connections or via UUCP, as well as serving out articles to reading clients via NNTP. It supports multiple different ways of sending outgoing articles to other hosts, as well as multiple different storage mechanisms for articles and article overview information via internal APIs. Compared to other news servers, INN is more complicated with a steeper learning curve, but is extremely flexible and configurable, comes with a large suite of supporting programs, and supports embedded filters in either Perl or Python. Changes: This is a new stable version including numerous changes over the last one. Read the file NEWS in the source archive for a complete list of them.
About: mod_ssl provides provides strong cryptography for the Apache 1.3 webserver via the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2/v3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS v1). It is based on the SSL/TLS toolkit OpenSSL and supports all SSL/TLS related functionality, including RSA and DSA/DH cipher support, X.509 CRL checking, etc. Additionally it provides special Apache related facilities like DBM and shared memory based inter-process SSL session caching. per-URL SSL session renegotiations, DSO support, etc. Changes: This is a major bugfix version. Users are encouraged to upgrade.
About: RabbIt is a mutating, caching Web proxy used to speed up surfing over slow links like modems. It does this by removing advertising and background images and scaling down images to low quality JPEGs. RabbIT is written in Java and should be able to run on any platform. It does depend upon an image converter if image scaleing is on. The recommended image converter is "convert" from the ImageMagick package. Changes: The step to NCache is now totally complete. Small changes to the cache that should make it even better. Better system for errordetection and errorhandling. Bugfixes of course.
About: omniORB is an Object Request Broker (ORB) which implements version 2.6 of the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA). It supports the C++ and Python language bindings, is fully multithreaded, uses IIOP as the native transport, and comes complete with a COS Naming Service. omniORB is one of the fastest available C++ ORBs. Changes: Support for DII and DSI, interface repository support, stub compiler enhancements, performance enhancements for Any and DynAny, general speedups and bug fixes.
About: lftp is a sophisticated command line based file transfer program. Supported protocols include FTP, HTTP, SFTP, and FISH. It has a multithreaded design allowing you to issue and execute multiple commands simultaneously or in the background. It also features mirroring capabilities and will reconnect and continue transfers in the event of a disconnection. Also, if you quit the program while transfers are still in progress, it will switch to nohup mode and finish the transfers in the background. Additional protocols supported: FTP over HTTP proxy, HTTPS and FTP over SSL. There are lots of tunable parameters, including rate limitation, number of connections limitation and more. Changes: Completion is better, non-checking open and cd options, several bugs fixed.
About: SoundTracker is a pattern-oriented music editor (similar to the DOS program 'FastTracker'). Samples are lined up on tracks and patterns which are then arranged to a song. Supported module formats are XM and MOD; the player code is the one from OpenCP. A basic sample recorder and editor is also included. Changes: This version adds audio preferences, realtime pattern scrolling (independent of mixing buffer size) and some player fixes.
About: pircd is an IRC daemon written in Perl which aims to be compatible with existing clients. It is one of the few IRC daemons with SSL support. Changes: Fixes a bug in /topic, a bug which prevented EPIC from working, another that caused a crash when users disconnected, cleaned up some of the login messages, and added /stats O.
About: TexturePaint is a Gimp plugin which displays a Quake I/II model in an openGL window and shows a texture image mapped on the model. You can modify the texture image with GIMP and view the result in the 3d window. You can also paint in the 3d view and TexturePaint calculates the texture for you. Changes: Autoconf , Support for Quake I models
About: Rxvt is an 8-bit clean, colour xterm replacement that uses significantly less memory than a conventional xterm, mostly since it doesn't support toolkit configurability or Tek graphics, but also since features can be removed at compile-time to reflect your needs. Changes: Many bugfixes. See changelog for details.
About: This is the offical FreeBSD port of Sun's Java Development Kit, including compilers, a run-time environment, appletviewer, and standard Java executors, the Java debugger, and more. Changes: SO_REUSEADDR option now set correctly, updated to JDK 1.1.7, bugs fixed (including the modulo bug), the limit on open file descriptors has been bumped from 256 to 2048 and the JRE is also much more usable.

Its main goals are to be easy to use and intuitive when used by novice, but powerful and fully configurable in the hand of experienced users. It includes all the feature you may expect. Changes: Many fixes to the FastConnect bar, major fixes to the local directory browser and support for GTK+ 1.1.13.
About: wmakerconf is a GTK+ based configuration tool for Window Maker window manager. All Window Maker attributes (including the application menu and themes) can be configured, making it an alternative (or add-on) for the built in Window Maker configuration tool WPrefs. Changes: This version adds full support for the 0.50.2 release of Window Maker (workspace specific backgrounds, textured gradients, -noext root menu option).
About: TkMasqdialer is a client for Charles P. Wright's C-Masqdialer. It's an X11 client written in Tcl/Tk . The masqdialer system provides a user-friendly method of controlling a masqueraded dialup connection from a remote computer connected by a LAN. Changes: Complete code rewrite, removed dependency on expect and telnet, and TkMasqdialer now has a new maintainer.
About: NcFTPd is a high-performance File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server for UNIX systems, designed especially for high-traffic sites and internet service providers.
About: Pipo-BBS allows you to install a BBS server and clients. You can chat via a nice interface with an unlimited number of people (as with IRC). This software is in a pre-release state; it is still very alpha, and can be difficult to even compile. It works under linux, MkLinux, SGI, HP-UX, and Solaris. The only interface for this BBS is telnet for the moment; an interface using GTK has been started. It has been translated into French, English, Spanish and German. Changes: This release includes various bugfixes.
About: www-sql is able to display information from MySQL or PostgreSQL databases in web pages. It does this with a simple embedded scripting language. The commands are embedded in special HTML tags, so it should be possible to edit the document with an HTML editor. The tags are evaluated when the page is loaded, so the resultant page will be HTML compliant.
About: phpMyAdmin is a tool intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the Web. It can create, rename, and drop databases, create/drop/alter tables, delete/edit/add fields, execute any SQL statement, manage keys on fields, create dumps of tables and databases, export/import CSV data, and administrate one single database and multiple MySQL servers.
About: Grail is an extensible Internet browser written entirely in the interpreted object-oriented programming language Python. It runs on Unix, and, to some extent, on Windows and Macintosh. Grail is easily extended to support other new protocols or file formats. Grail is distributed in source form, free of change, without warranties. It requires recent versions of Python and Tcl/Tk to run.
About: aee is a text editor that is intended to be usable with little or no instruction. It provides both a terminal (curses based) interface and native X-Windows interface (in which case the executable is called xae). Features include pop-up menus, journalling (to recover from system crash or loss of connection), cut-and-paste, multiple buffers (associated with files or not), and much more. Changes: This is mainly a bugfix release.
About: Think is an outliner. It allows you to organize text information in a tree structure. Changes: ew canvas-based Outline widget, loads/saves an XML file format as well as massive internal changes and code cleanups.
About: Qps is a visual process manager, an X11 version of "top" or "ps" that displays processes in a window and lets you sort and manipulate them. It displays some general system information, and many details about current processes (such as the TCP/UDP sockets in use by a process). Qps runs on Linux and Solaris. Changes: Environment variables, working directory and root directory are shown for each process. Some bug have been fixed as well.
About: XEvil is a 3rd person, side-view, fast-action, kill-them-before-they-kill-you game. Fight against either computer-controlled enemies, or another player. The objective of the game is simply to survive, while of course ensuring that none of your enemies do. Changes: Basically the same as last build but more stable.
About: Lynx is a fully-featured WWW client for users running cursor-addressable, character-cell display devices (e.g., vt100 terminals, terminal emulators running on PCs or Macs, or any other character-cell display). It will display HTML documents containing links to files on the local system, as well as files on remote systems running HTTP, HTTPS, gopher, FTP, WAIS, NNTP, finger, or cso/ph/qi servers, and services accessible via logins to telnet, tn3270, or rlogin accounts.
About: TWIG is a Web-based groupware suite written in PHP, compatible with both PHP3 and PHP4. Its features include IMAP and POP3 email, Usenet newsgroups, contact management, scheduling, shared notes and bookmarks, a todo list, and meeting announcements. Any piece of information can be shared with others via group oriented access controls. By using only plain HTML, it is a simple, cross-platform, fast, and browser-independent way to access or share almost any kind of information, without the complexity or costs of other intranet/groupware packages. It is fully internationalized, with 24 translations. Changes: An address book has been implemented, along with several other features.
About: Pidentd v3 is a much improved version of the original Ident daemon both in terms of speed, code quality and features. Features include multithreading, a "configure" script, startup autodetection, much clearer/rewritten C code, doesn't run as root after startup, has a configuration file and can be started from /etc/inittab (on systems using a SysV init).
About: UDE, the Unix Desktop Environment, is a new GUI for Linux. It has a new look'n'feel. The goals of UDE are to be user friendly, fast and as different from MS-Windows as possible. Changes: This release contains a bugfix and support for simple automatic window placement.
About: instmon is a shell script that monitors installations and detects the files that were added or modified. It can be very helpful for packages that only come in source form. It can be used by system administrators and simple users alike. Changes: Added quite a few features since version 1.2 like tar, deb and rpm packages can now be created, listing logs has become more powerful, and instmon can now recognize that some logs are same-program-different-version and do some useful things about that. In addition, some bug and security fixes have been included, so everyone is encouraged to upgrade.
About: PySol is an exciting collection of more than 200 solitaire card games. Its features include a very nice look and feel, multiple cardsets and table backgrounds, unlimited undo/redo, loading/saving games, player statistics and log files, a hint system, demo games, support for user-written plugins, sound support (including samples and background music), an integrated HTML help browser, and lots of documentation. Changes: This version supports one new game, namely Canfield, and adds various assist functions like Autoplay, Automatic face up and Hightlight matching cards. Also you can now change the card background and select timer-based real-time card animations.
About: Wterm is a color VT102 terminal emulator for the X Window System. While lightweight, it provides an elegant interface, including NeXTSTEP style scroll bars and an application menu that integrates well with the Window Maker window manager and GNUstep based applications. Wterm works well with any window manager or desktop environment. Other features include background images, transparency, and reverse transparency. Support is included for the Latin, Chinese, Greek, and Kanji character sets. An extensive set of runtime options is available. Changes: Transparency shading, inverse shading (like a film negative), menus using Window Maker's menu lib to select colours, fonts,backgrounds, etc. as well as some bugfixes.
About: iODBC is a cross-platform Driver Manager that comforms to the Microsoft ODBC 2.x & 3.x and X/Open SQL CLI data access specs. It enables the development of database-centric solutions that are both database and platform independent. This is a great SDK for porting WIN32-based ODBC applications to Linux and other OS platforms. Changes: New features include the implementation of the SQLDataSources() API, improved packaging and Linux binaries are available now.
About: libpng (PNG library) is a collection of routines used to create and manipulate PNG format graphics files. The PNG format was designed as a replacement for GIF and, to a lesser extent, TIFF, with many improvements and extensions. Changes: Numerous bugfixes, some minor changes to the makefiles to make things build more smoothly, a handful of new function calls, and a statement of Y2K compliance.
