About: nmh (new MH) is a powerful electronic mail handling system. It was originally based on version 6.8.3 of the MH message system developed by the RAND Corporation and the University of California. It is intended to be a (mostly) compatible drop-in replacement for MH. nmh consists of a collection of fairly simple single-purpose programs to send, receive, save, retrieve, and manipulate e-mail messages. Since nmh is a suite rather than a single monolithic program, you may freely intersperse nmh commands with other commands at your shell prompt, or write custom scripts which use these commands in flexible ways. About: CVSup is a software package for transferring and updating collections of files across a network. It consists of a server called cvsupd and a client called cvsup. CVSup is faster (often by an order of magnitude) and more flexible than traditional network packages such as rdist and sup. In addition, CVSup has special knowledge of RCS files (as used by CVS). Software projects using CVSup to distribute their CVS repositories include FreeBSD, KDE, and (shortly) Postgres. Changes: Major new features include strong client/server authentication, accelerated client performance, numerous minor bugfixes, improved statistics generation and better cross-platform portability.
About: OpenMap is a JavaBeans-based GIS toolkit for building applications and applets needing geographic information. Using OpenMap components, you can access data from legacy applications, in-place, in a distributed setting. At its core, OpenMap is a set of Swing components that understand geographic coordinates. These components help you show map data, and help you handle user input events to manipulate that data. Changes: Now works under JDK1.2 (Java 2) and includes a bunch of minor changes like better earthquake layer, OMGraphic updates, DTED Layer updates, SimpleMap examples and better documentation.
About: TkNotePad is a simple text editor like the Windows notepad. Changes: Changed font under Windows to Courier, while keeping font under *nix Helv, added some more key bindings, as well as some internal code clean ups.
About: TWIG is a Web-based groupware suite written in PHP, compatible with both PHP3 and PHP4. Its features include IMAP and POP3 email, Usenet newsgroups, contact management, scheduling, shared notes and bookmarks, a todo list, and meeting announcements. Any piece of information can be shared with others via group oriented access controls. By using only plain HTML, it is a simple, cross-platform, fast, and browser-independent way to access or share almost any kind of information, without the complexity or costs of other intranet/groupware packages. It is fully internationalized, with 24 translations. Changes: This is the first release that contains the foundation for groupware features. Lots of bugfixes and plenty of new PIM features.
About: GNU Classpath (essential libraries for Java) is a project to create free core class libraries for use with virtual machines and compilers for the Java programming language. It includes all native methods and core classes necessary for a completely functional execution environment. Changes: This is the first development release of GNU Classpath, a project to create a free software replacement for Sun's proprietary Java class libraries. The project is initially providing class library support for the Japhar JVM.
About: VM is a mail reader written in Emacs LISP for GNU Emacs and XEmacs. It can retrieve mail from local spool files or remotely via POP and IMAP, display and send MIME messages, thread messages, auto-sort messages into folders, and manipulate "virtual folders" of messages matching certain criteria. In Emacs versions with X support it provides an interface with toolbars, menus, and mouse-based message selection. Changes: Yet more MIME bugfixes, mostly relating to GNU Emacs 20 MULE issues.
About: chpp is a general purpose preprocessor. It was designed originally for the purpose of preprocessing HTML code but can be used successfully in other fields of application as well. Highlights are, beside powerful language constructs, CGI-scripting support and an SQL database interface. Changes: Bugfixes, new macros for time handling, a let special form, a special form for defining special forms (defspecial) and more.
About: This program will allow you to view ANSI images correctly without any need for special software on your Linux box. Changes: Added a simple makefile and fixed a small bug.
About: Nmap ("Network Mapper") is a utility for network exploration, administration, and security auditing. It uses IP packets in novel ways to determine which hosts are available online (host discovery), which TCP/UDP ports are open (port scanning), and what applications and services are listening on each port (version detection). It can also identify remote host OS and device types via TCP/IP fingerprinting. Nmap offers flexible target and port specifications, decoy/stealth scanning for firewall and IDS evasion, and highly optimized timing algorithms for fast scanning. Changes: 25% more remote OS detection fingerprints, new giant nmap-services file including Back Orifice, Netbus, SSH, and a couple thousand other services, stronger random number generation, better machine-parseable log files, improved SunOS 4.X support, included an article about TCP/IP fingerprinting and updated documentation.
About: Bochs is a portable x86 PC emulation software package that emulates enough of the x86 CPU, related AT hardware, and BIOS to run DOS, Windows 95, Linux, FreeBSD, and other OS's, all on your workstation.
About: gnome-python is a set of interfaces to gnome-libs. It also contains a copy of PyGTK, so you don't have to worry about gnome-python getting out of sync with your copy of PyGTK. The bindings cover almost all of the APIs in gnome-libs. Changes: Updated for latest release of gnome-libs (Conspicuous Cow) and some bugs have been fixed.
About: PyGTK is a set of Python bindings for the GTK widget set. It provides an object oriented interface that is slightly higher level than the C one. It automatically does all the type casting and reference counting that you normally would have to do with the C API. Changes: Numerous bug fixes. This version brings the package up to date with gtk+-1.1.14/15.
About: The GAA Argument Analyser helps programmers to analyze the arguments given to their program from the command line or from a configuration file. You will only have to write a text file in GAA language, and GAA will provide you .c and .h files to manage arguments. Changes: A bug with options with the same short name but with different case fixed, options can now have optional arguments, now an option may have only a long name and no short name, INCOMP and OBLIGAT doesn't apply for configuration files processed by gaa anymore and a missing k declaration has been added.
About: Gwydion Dylan is a portable, optimizing Dylan compiler written in Dylan. It was originally written by the Gwydion Group at CMU and is now maintained by volunteers. Eventually, Gwydion Dylan is meant to become a top-notch tool for building complicated applications. Dylan is a dynamic, object-oriented language with four design goals: high performance, rapid prototyping, ease of use, and seamless support for using libraries written in C. Ports of Gwydion Dylan are available for many platforms. Changes: The current release is a "technology preview". The compiler is quite mature. The most inconvenient bugs have been stomped and a fair amount of documentation has been written. Realistically, 2.2 could be used for learning Dylan or building command-line applications.
About: Rocks'n'Diamonds is an arcade style game for color X11 with stereo sounds. It's a game like "Boulderdash" (C64), "Emerald Mine" (Amiga) and "Supaplex" (PC). Included are many levels known from the games "Boulderdash," "Emerald Mine," "Sokoban" and "Supaplex," and a lot of new levels designed by other players. Changes: Strongly enhanced level editor, new elements and levels for Supaplex style games, completely rewritten platform independent gadget code (buttons, scrollbars, text and number input gadgets), nasty sound bug fixed (showed up with Linux kernel 2.2.x).
