About: glFtpD is a multi-platform FTP daemon that has numerous features and is easy to setup and use.
About: Gaspell is a Gnome Frontend to Aspell, an Open Source spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. Its main feature is that it does a much better job of coming up with possible suggestions than Ispell does. Changes: Updated to work with Aspell .27 and includes support ot Aspell's url skipping mode.
About: AML is an implementation of a basic register machine coded in C++. It provides all of the rudimentary features of any machine language like basic I/O and arithmetic but provides a very easy syntax and its own portable binary compression scheme for storing files. AML is currently distributed on SunOS 5.5, Linux 2.2, and Win32 console. Changes: Fixed a few memory leaks and improved the ASM support module. The jump_back register is now fully functional and provides full recursive capabilities. Fixed a few problems with loading and saving and optimized the code to run faster with a new dynamic memory model.
About: Barrendero is a program designed to keep free space in the mail spool directory by deleting messages older than a certain age from the mail files. It can warn users of the pending deletion ahead of time, as well as provide a report of the deleted messages. Changes: Fixed a bugs in .sav options, permissions, etc. Added $SAVEDIR for specifying where to save mail, changed lock mechanisms.
About: mod_dav enables Apache to understand the WebDAV protocol (extensions to HTTP). WebDAV stands for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning", and is defined by RFC 2518. WebDAV is intended to replace proprietary authoring protocols such as those used by Frontpage or NetObjects' Fusion, but is also a complete set of protocols for manipulating a webserver's files and directories, and their properties. Changes: Switch to SDBM by default. Fix xml:lang handling. Fix some MOVE/COPY issues.
About: The Internet Software Consortium DHCP distribution includes a DHCP client, a DHCP server, and a DHCP relay agent. DHCP is a protocol for automatically configuring nodes on an IP network. The ISC DHCP server and client are well known for being extremely configurable, reasonably easy to use, and quite efficient. Changes: Some bug fixes for Solaris. GNU libc compatibility hacks for Linux. Some more descriptive error messages. One possible null pointer dereference fixed. DHCP database directory on Linux changed to conform with FHS 2.0.
About: FVWM is a multiple large virtual desktop window manager originally derived from twm. FVWM is intended to have a small memory footprint and a rich feature set, be extremely customizable and extendable and have a high degree of Motif mwm compatibility. FVWM is highly extensible through its module interface. Changes: GNU autoconf, better menu navigation/structures, SnapAttraction and SnapGrid window/icon alignment, better animated iconification control, better focus handling, faster startup, and much more.
About: LoopLinux (a.k.a. loopslak) is a way to install and run Slackware Linux from a DOS/Win9x system without repartitioning. It can also be installed to its own Linux partition. Changes: Updated some of the software on the system.
About: GNU xhippo is a simple GTK-based playlist manager, designed to play music using mpg123, xmp, or most other commandline-based players while providing a friendly, clean X interface. It is localised in both English and German. Its interface is based upon the Amiga program HippoPlayer. It supports drag-and-drop, has optional GNOME support, and has a simple text-based playlist format compatible with many other players. Changes: Support for GTK 1.1 (and thus themes). A couple of bugfixes. Considerable tidyup in the source and distribution.
About: Erlang is a small concurrent functional programming language developed by Ericsson. It is being used by Ericsson as a systems programming language for large concurrent fault-tolerant distributed systems. Changes: Significantly cleaned up and improved and it should now build clean on a variety of different targets. In particular the BEAM compiler builds.
About: Zope is an application server specializing in content management, intranets, and custom Web applications. It is written in Python and has a large global community of developers and companies. Changes: Documents have been split into DTML Methods and DTML Documents, addition of low-level indexing and searching modules, and improvements to the management interface, the object database, Image objects, and PUT publishing support.
About: GNU Aspell is a spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. It can either be used as a library or as an independent spell checker. Its main feature is that it does a superior job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than just about any other spell checker out there for the English language. Unlike Ispell, Aspell can also easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary. Aspell will also do its best to respect the current locale setting. Other advantages over Ispell include support for using multiple dictionaries at once and intelligently handling personal dictionaries when more than one Aspell process is open at once. Changes: Minor enhancements and bug fixes. Total rework of the C++ library.
About: Melange is a chat server written in C++ and a bundled Java applet. It also supports direct telnet connections and includes features such as public and private channels, hidden caves, anonymous channels, and many advanced commands. An easy to use group/policy system allows you to configure the chat for various demands, and an optional MySQL backend is supported along with multi-language support. Changes: new features like the "real time overview" plus a couple of new clients. Also some major bugs have been fixed.
About: asapm is an AfterStep look & feel Advanced Power Management (APM) monitor for laptop and notebook PCs running Linux or FreeBSD/NetBSD/OpenBSD and X Windows. It displays charge left in the battery, the time left to the total discharge of the battery, computer is connected to the mains or is working on a battery and the battery status high/low/critical. Changes: Added support for OpenBSD.
About: PIKT is cross-categorical, multi-purpose software for monitoring and configuring computer systems, administering networks, organizing system security, and much more. PIKT is intended primarily for system monitoring, and secondarily for configuration management, but its versatility and extensibility evoke many other wide-ranging uses. PIKT consists of a sophisticated, feature-rich file preprocessor; an innovative scripting language with unique labor-saving features; a flexible, centrally directed process scheduler; a customizing file installer; a collection of powerful command-line extensions; and other useful tools. Changes: Fixed a number of problems with exec wait, possible multiple concurrent program instances, and lockfiles.
About: Grip is a CD player and CD ripper/MP3-encoder for the GNOME desktop. It has the ripping capabilities of cdparanoia built in, but can also use external rippers (such as cdda2wav). It also provides an automated frontend for MP3 encoders (presets for lame, bladeenc, l3enc, xingmp3enc, mp3encode, and gogo), letting you take a disc and transform it easily straight into MP3s. The Ogg Vorbis format is also supported. Internet disc lookups are supported for retrieving track information from disc database servers. Grip works with DigitalDJ to provide a unified, "computerized" version of your music collection. Changes: Support for ID3 tags in mp3 files, better control over ripping / encoding timing (for slower machines with limited drive space)
About: cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs/DVDs with a CDR/CDRW/DVD recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. It supports CD/DVD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc- and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features include IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs, full multi-session support, CDRWs (rewritable), DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW, TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD/DVD writers. Changes: First cdrecord release that supports Diso At Once on MMC recorders Cdda2wav now supports CD-Text extraction
