About: tgif is a vector-based drawing tool, with the additional benefit of being sort of a web-browser. That is, you can fetch drawings from a web server with it, and you can make objects in your picture into hotlinks to other parts of the drawing, or to other drawings accessible via HTTP. Changes: Fixed problems with internal commands to work better with non-simple attributes, fixed problems with menus with wm2, fixed a bug that creating a new text object when the edit text size is non-zero results in the font size of the text object being 0, fixed page number bugs in slideshow mode and allows the moving of individual attributes directly in select mode.
About: The console-tools package allows you to set-up and manipulate the Linux console (ie. text screen and keyboard), and manipulate console-font files. It was developed from version 0.94 of the standard `kbd' package, and integrates many fixes and enhancements, including new kbd features up to 0.99. Changes: Code iternationalization using GNU gettext, the openvt(1) program (formerly know as open(1)), mostly up-to-date with kbd 0.97, more behaviour consistency with GNU tools, many updated and new keymaps as well as several important bug fixes.
About: Dave Gnukem is a 2D scrolling platform game, similar to Duke Nukem 1. It includes a level editor. It runs on Linux and Windows, and uses the SDL library. Changes: Improved lifts, rudimentary conveyor belts, power boots, double-size window mode, 16-bit color mode support, infrastructure for add-on mission packs, bugfixes, and other minor enhancements.
About: Pgpgpg is a wrapper which takes PGP 2.6 command line options, translates them and then calls GnuPG to perform the desired action. With this wrapper most scripts and tools which are written for PGP 2.6 should work seamlessly with GnuPG. Changes: Added +encrypttoself support and all -k commands should work correctly now.
About: Apache::Session is a persistence framework whose purpose is to provide session management to web developers. It is designed to work with Apache and mod_perl, but it does not depend on them and will work with any web server. This module provides a set of classes that give the developer maximum functionality. Session data can be stored in a database, flat files, or shared memory. Changes: Several usability enhancements suggested by users, added POD to Session.pm, shuffled some code around for easier subclassing and prototyped constant subroutines to make perl inline them.
About: GnuDIP is a application designed to allow an ISP to publish a DNS hostname for a customer without having to assign a static IP address. Customers can maintain the address information via a CGI on the ISP's website. For those who are familiar with the dyn.ml.org part this is a simple replacement package. Changes: Added logging features to gdips.pl. All central configuration is kept in /etc/gnudip.conf and security regarding gdips.pl has been improved thanks to Randolph Chung of Debain (Expect a Debian package on the web page soon). Fixed several minor bugs.
About: Xtraceroute is a graphical version of the traceroute program, which traces the route your IP packets travel to their destination. It displays the routes on a rotating globe, as a series of yellow lines between 'sites', shown as small balls of different colors. Changes: Added a man page, i18n support (es, fr, ja), a better database, better rotation control and of course lots of bugfixes.
About: GNU Mailman is software to help manage email discussion lists and e-newsletters. Its integrated Web interface provides easy-to-use access for list members and list administrators. Mailman supports built-in archiving, automatic bounce processing, content filtering, digest delivery, spam filters, topics, Usenet gateways, and more. It is fully internationalized, and supports digests and email commands. It runs on any Linux or Unix-like operating system and is compatible with most email and Web servers, mail readers, and Web browsers. Changes: Primarily a bug fix release, including a fix for the problem of lost mail on some versions of Linux. New configure switch --with-cgi-ext allows you specify a dot-extension on CGI scripts.
About: AbiWord is a cross-platform Open Source word processor. The goal is to make AbiWord full-featured, and remain lean. Changes: Way cool support for tabs on ruler, bug fixes.
About: backupsd is an ultra-simple daemon to handle emergency shutdown of a NetBSD system when a connected APC Back-UPS signals a power failure. This is an ongoing project; suggestions, bugfixes, and additional code are appreciated. Changes: First release.
About: Scandoc is a documentation generator, similar to JavaDoc or KDoc, which produces high-quality documentation by extracting specially-formatted comments from C or C++ source code. ScanDoc allows for themable documentation. In other words, you can format the resulting documentation to appear however you want, with frames, styles, indexes, etc. You can also create theme files which generate non-HTML output, such as ASCII text or PostScript. ScanDoc is also very small, making it easy to distribute with your applications. Changes: This version fixes a number of parser bugs which were reported by users.
About: Mailcrypt is an Emacs Lisp package which provides a simple interface to public key cryptography with PGP/GPG. Mailcrypt makes strong cryptography a fully integrated part of your normal mail and news handling environment. Changes: Several bugfixes, mostly affecting compatibility with XEmacs, GNUS, vm and mh-e. Mailcrypt should now build "out of the box" for XEmacs users. Key fetching has been added for PGP 5 using finger and HTTP, though it doesn't yet handle the hkp protocol. Mailcrypt works correctly now when paranoids set their passphrase to expire immediately.
About: MySQL is a widely used and fast SQL database server. It is a client/server implementation that consists of a server daemon (mysqld) and many different client programs/libraries.
About: RipIT is a command line program for ripping, encoding, and tagging MP3s that needs no user intervention. It is a wrapper for dagrab, cdparanoia, cdda2wav, LAME, Ogg Vorbis, Flac, Faac, and supports the retrieval and submission of CDDB entries. Changes: Fixed file ordering in the M3U file. You can specify file names to use underscores instead of spaces.
About: libmikmod is a portable sound library, which used to be packaged with the MikMod module player, but is now released independentely. It is capable of playing samples as well as module files, using the OSS driver for output, as well as Alsa and EsounD. Supported module format include mod, s3m, xm, it, med, mtm and 669, to name a few. Changes: Bugfixes, new module formats, and the library is now thread-safe.
About: BetaFTPD is a single-threaded FTP daemon. The single-threadedness makes it faster than most other FTP daemons (contrary to common belief), and makes it extremely light on memory. Although it lacks a few functions (which you probably won't miss), the current version is very small and has a decent amount of functionality. BetaFTPD is built on the concept of heavy code reuse, which should hopefully make it easier for other programmers to contribute. Changes: Bugfixes (for lynx), added globbing, and improved RFC959 compliance.
About: GNU Aspell is a spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. It can either be used as a library or as an independent spell checker. Its main feature is that it does a superior job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than just about any other spell checker out there for the English language. Unlike Ispell, Aspell can also easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary. Aspell will also do its best to respect the current locale setting. Other advantages over Ispell include support for using multiple dictionaries at once and intelligently handling personal dictionaries when more than one Aspell process is open at once. Changes: Two major bugs fixed as well as other minor changes.
About: GNU Midnight Commander is a text-mode full-screen file manager. It uses a two panel interface and a subshell for command execution. It includes an internal editor with syntax highlighting and an internal viewer with support for binary files. Also included is Virtual Filesystem (VFS), that allows files on remote systems (e.g. FTP servers) and files inside archives to be manipulated like real files. Changes: Integration with g-print, Installation fixes (people were running into this problem with rpm) and metadata drops work as they should.
About: Naken Chat is a port of Javachat to C. Javachat can be directly replaced with this server and the Java chat client or telnet client will talk to it as if it was Javachat. Naken Chat is multithreaded (like Javachat) and has all the features (channels, gagging, squelching, private messages, etc) and has been tested on: Linux, FreeBSD, Irix, Solaris, and Win32. Changes: New features include site "allow" restriction, bad language censoring, welcome.txt fix for DOS and Unix compatibility, as well as the ability to reload conf file without stopping the server. Linux and Windows binaries along with source are available for download.
About: The VK Toolset is intended to aide MPEG developers and hobbyist in understanding and creating conformant MPEG streams.
