About: PHP is a widely-used Open Source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML. Its syntax draws upon C, Java, and Perl, and is easy to learn. PHP runs on many different platforms and can be used as a standalone executable or as a module under a variety of Web servers. It has excellent support for databases, XML, LDAP, IMAP, Java, various Internet protocols, and general data manipulation, and is extensible via its powerful API. It is actively developed and supported by a talented and energetic international team. Numerous Open Source and commercial PHP-based application packages are available. Changes: Version 3.0.8 includes a number of bug fixes, including glibc-2.1 related issues that caused previous versions not to work with RedHat 6.0. Also a lot of work on the oci8 Oracle module by Thies C. Arntzen, a bunch of optimizations by Sascha Schumann along with his cool new DBA module which makes it much easier to deal with different types of dbm file formats, plus quite a few other things.
About: Slackware is the longest-running distribution of the Linux operating system. Slackware offers a stable and secure version of Linux that is perfect for home, office, or educational use. Slackware is easy for beginners to install, but contains all the advanced features required by the experienced UNIX power-user.
About: Ldapconf is a linuxconf module providing dialogs and tools to be used for LDAP directory management, configuration, operation, etc. on GNU/Linux systems. It depends on OpenLDAP binaries to do the actual LDAP operations, and includes support for keeping multiple form/config/access profiles, for easy access to directories of various types. The forms and profiles may also be used for managment of remote directories on other servers. Changes: Working client configurator, working userinfo editor, simple server configurator, database migration button (requires ldapns tools), and a simple PAM/NSS configurator is available, but not recommended. Do not use on production machines.
About: Pipo-BBS allows you to install a BBS server and clients. You can chat via a nice interface with an unlimited number of people (as with IRC). This software is in a pre-release state; it is still very alpha, and can be difficult to even compile. It works under linux, MkLinux, SGI, HP-UX, and Solaris. The only interface for this BBS is telnet for the moment; an interface using GTK has been started. It has been translated into French, English, Spanish and German. Changes: Changed french interface, corrected BUG error msg when jump on not allowed place, rules rewritten, idle kick restored, configuration file reread menu admin, HelpRA help added, remade interface, a user can erase his own account, script to print rooms on the web, added real mail support, added key support for validation, server more reliable, debug stuff rewritten, configuration script and more.
About: GBuffy will poll multiple mailboxes for new mail. It will list the number of new messages in each mailbox you configure. It will also highlight the mailboxes that have new mail, and you can display the message headers by pressing mouse button one on a mailbox. GBuffy is currently capable of watching MBOX, MMDF, Maildir and MH Folders. This version also supports IMAP4rev1 and NNTP with XOVER mailboxes, as well as displaying X-Face headers. Changes: Version 0.2.1 is a source only release that fixes a compile bug under Solaris.
About: cdctl is a program similar to eject. Like eject, it can eject your CD-ROM/DVD drive, but it does a whole lot more. Cdctl provides a user interface to the 2.2 kernel's uniform cdrom driver's ioctl calls, and most 2.0 cdrom drivers (ide-cd and scsi). Cdctl is also capable of doing everything a regular console cd player can as well as drive capability interrogation, autoeject setting, maximum/mininum speed cap setting, disc-changer disc selection, disc status readback, MCN querying, table of contents header readback, track header readback, and much more. About: jEdit is an Open Source text editor written in Java. It has many useful features, such as syntax highlighting, bracket matching, regular expression searching, multiple file search and replace, folding, and keyboard macros. jEdit also includes a powerful plugin architecture that allows more than 80 plugins to be downloaded and installed from within the editor. Changes: This version fixes the JDK 1.1.8 GPF on Windows. Also, the Makefile and Patch/Diff edit modes, and the FAQ have been updated.
About: Poorcount is a program used to create counters and timers for web pages using the Graphical Counter Language. Changes: Updated documentation and GCL scripts for compatibility with the new name of GCL (Gracula) remapped images, and added new images.
About: VDKBuilder is a RAD tool which provides the programmer with an integrated environment for designing GUI interfaces, editing sources, compiling, linking and debugging. All these phases can be accomplished from within builder. VDKBuilder is based on VDK Library, a C++ wrapper of the gtk+ widget set. Changes: First announcement.
About: RadioActive is a radio tuner program for X (using the GTK widget set), the GNOME panel and the command line, built upon the standardized Video4Linux API found in the 2.2 series of the Linux kernels. Changes: RadioActive can now change the volume.
About: mhash is a thread-safe hash library implemented in C, and provides a uniform interface to a large number of hash algorithms (MD5, SHA-1, HAVAL, RIPEMD160, TIGER, GOST). These algorithms can be used to compute checksums, message digests, and other signatures. The HMAC support implements the basics for message authentication, following RFC 2104. About: yp-tools is an implementation of the NIS client tools for Linux and should work with every Linux C Library. This implementation only provides NIS client tools. You must already have a ypbind daemon running on the same host, and a NIS server running somewhere in the net. Changes: Fixed compiler warnings, fixed German translation and fixed minor Makefile bugs.
About: ObjectArtist is a development tool to create object-oriented software. It uses UML diagrams for modeling and stores the models in XMI, an XML based format. Changes: Initial release.
About: FTPWebLog is a freeware integrated WWW and FTP log reporting tool. Changes: First announcement.
About: XVoice enables speech to text translation for many X applications. XVoice will accept continuous speech input from IBM's ViaVoice SDK for Linux, and then re-target the resulting text at many X applications. It provides a GUI, which can be voice controlled, to select the target application, and control dictation and commands. Changes: First announcement.
About: dmcat is a Digital Music CATalog program. Written in Perl, it recurses a physical directory, searching for digital music files, and builds a virtual catalog (out of symbolic links) in a sister directory. It currently only supports the MP3 format using ID3 tags. The following hierarchies are supported: Album, Artist, Artist_Album, Genre, Miscellaneous (catch-all), Title, and Year.
About: pdq is a direct replacement of lpr. Adding and configuring printers does not require root privilege. Jobs can be monitored through completion, job status can be checked *after* completion. Users can create custom command line options to set features such as tray selection, color mode, and print quality options. xpdq provides a graphical GTK based interface to simplify printer and option selection, and provides a wizard for printer installation. About: Jmol is a Free, Open Source molecule viewer and editor. It is a collaboratively developed visualization and measurement tool for chemical scientists. Jmol is an active project, and there are new features being added to it on a daily basis. Users are encouraged to modify it to fit their needs and to contribute their changes to the project. About: Alien converts between the rpm, deb, Stampede slp, and Slackware tgz file formats. If you want to use a package from another distribution than the one you have installed on your system, you can use alien to convert it to your preferred package format and install it.
About: Xwpe is a programming environment with a user interface that mimics the Borland C and Pascal family of products. From within xwpe you can edit, compile, and debug programs. The xwpe-alpha project was an attempt to continue development and bug fixes for xwpe. Additional releases may occasionally occur, but major development has ceased.
About: MultiMail is an offline mail packet reader for many systems, using a curses-based interface. It supports the Blue Wave, QWK, OMEN, SOUP, and OPX formats.
About: Linux NTFS provides Linux kernel drivers, a multiplatform NTFS library, and tools to create, resize, clone, rescue, query, label and fix NTFS volumes, and to undelete, resize, list, and query files for the filesystem used by Windows XP, 2003, 2000, NT4, and Vista. It also provides support for the Logical Disk Manager (LDM) that controls Windows' Dynamic Disks and is used to create software mirrors, stripes, and RAID. Changes: Bug fixes.
About: wv (formerly known as MSWordView or wvware) is a library and set of command-line programs that understands the Microsoft Word 2000, 97, 95, and 6 file formats (".doc"). It is able to convert Word documents into HTML (wvHtml), Abiword (wvAbw), plain text (wvText), RTF, PostScript, PDF, and other formats.
About: Apsfilter is a magic printfilter, allowing you to print different document types "automagically" without having to convert them manually into something which is understood by your printer. Apsfilter is a mature and powerful printing solution for any flavor of Unix running lpd or LPRng. It supports the latest GhostScript version and 3rd-party printer drivers (such as hpijs, ijs, hpdj, pcl3, and gimp-print). It autodetects lots of file, archive, and compression types. It supports printing on local as well as on Appletalk, Unix, and Windows remote printers. General and "per printer-queue" based config files allow you to configure the printer for your needs. The lpr command line options allow you to change printing parameters like print quality, orientation, duplex mode, etc. "on the fly" without having to edit any config file. A SETUP script helps you to test various supported ghostscript drivers prior installation, makes the necessary entries in /etc/printcap, creates spool directories, and creates apsfilter default config files as needed. A handbook in HTML is available. Several tools are also included: "aps2file" allows you to print to a file via apsfilter, "apspreview" previews files as generated by apsfilter using gv and friends, and "apsfilter-bug" assists you in doing bug and problem reports.
About: curl and libcurl is a tool for transferring files using URL syntax. It supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, FTPS, SCP, SFTP, TFTP, DICT, TELNET, LDAP, and FILE, as well as HTTP-post, HTTP-put, cookies, FTP upload, resumed transfers, passwords, port numbers, SSL certificates, Kerberos, and proxies. It is powered by libcurl, the client-side URL transfer library. There are bindings to libcurl for over 30 languages and environments. About: PIKT is cross-categorical, multi-purpose software for monitoring and configuring computer systems, administering networks, organizing system security, and much more. PIKT is intended primarily for system monitoring, and secondarily for configuration management, but its versatility and extensibility evoke many other wide-ranging uses. PIKT consists of a sophisticated, feature-rich file preprocessor; an innovative scripting language with unique labor-saving features; a flexible, centrally directed process scheduler; a customizing file installer; a collection of powerful command-line extensions; and other useful tools. Changes: Fixed a Makefile glitch that caused a compilation failure on some Linux systems; fixed a few mistakes in the documentation.
About: OBM is a groupware, email, LDAP, Windows PDC, CRM, and project management application. It is mainly used as an Exchange or Notes/Domino groupware and mail server replacement, as an LDAP directory, as a Windows PDC, as a contact and customer database, as a project management tool, or as any combination of these functions. It provides groupware (calendars, contacts, and tasks) connectors for Outlook, Thunderbird/Lightning, and PDAs. It supports internationalization and themes. About: Netwatch allows a user to monitor an Ethernet segment or PPP line and examine activity on the network. Hostnames are highlighted in colours to indicate activity on the bus network based on time. The monitor includes statistics on transmitted and received packets, transmitted and received bytes, protocol of last packet (TX or RC), last communication partner (IP address) and Logging entire stats to an ASCII file. There is a TOP mode which allows a sorted list of hosts based on IP usage. All info is updated on a per second basis. Changes: Config file fixes, freeze display feature (continued monitoring for remote access), Periodic automated logging (i.e. 10:00AM each day, with cleaning)
About: MAVERIK is a system for managing graphics and interaction in Virtual Reality applications. It is designed to address the challenges of highly interactive virtual environments containing many objects with complex geometry. MAVERIK uses either Mesa or OpenGL to perform rendering and runs on GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, Irix, Windows 98/NT and MacOS.
About: Linuxconf is a sophisticated administrative tool. It is both an activator and a configurator, and can manage quite a few system tasks. It has some unique features, like configuration versioning and multiple machine management. It supports multiples languages (French, German, Italian, etc.) and can be administered from ncurses (text), Web, command line, or X (GNOME or wxxt) user interfaces.
About: CDR-Toaster is a Tk frontend for writing CDs. It is a graphical front-end for the excelent programs 'mkisofs', 'cdrecord' and 'cdparanoia'. It may be used to burn audio, data, bootable, and combo CDs. It can also rip audio and data tracks. CDR-Toaster can even burn mp3s as audio CDs. Changes: Can now rip data and audio tracks (with cdparanoia), and can now blank a CDR.
