About: ngrep strives to provide most of GNU grep's common features, applying them to the network layer. ngrep is a pcap-aware tool that will allow you to specify extended regular or hexadecimal expressions to match against data payloads of packets. It currently recognizes IPv4/6, TCP, UDP, ICMPv4/6, IGMP and Raw across Ethernet, PPP, SLIP, FDDI, Token Ring, and null interfaces, and understands BPF filter logic in the same fashion as more common packet sniffing tools, such as tcpdump and snoop. Changes: A few new features and a manpage have been added.
About: AlsaPlayer is a new PCM player written with the ALSA sound system in mind. It also includes support for JACK, OSS, NAS, and ESD. Features include a real- time effects stream, variable speed/pitch control, SHOUTcast/icecast streaming support, multiple active visual scopes, command line mode, playlists, plugin architecture, low-latency mode, and more. About: gFTP is a free multithreaded file transfer client for *NIX based machines running X11R6 or later. It has text and GTK+ 1.2/2.x interfaces and supports the FTP, FTPS (control connection only), HTTP, HTTPS, FSP, and SSH protocols and has FTP and HTTP proxy server support. It supports UNIX, EPLF, Novell, MacOS, VMS, MVS, and NT (DOS) style directory listings, and has a bookmarks menu that allows you to quickly connect to remote sites. About: Libmcrypt is a library which provides a uniform interface to several symmetric encryption algorithms. It is intended to have a simple interface to access encryption algorithms in ofb, cbc, cfb, and ecb modes. The algorithms it supports are DES, 3DES, RIJNDAEL, Twofish, IDEA, GOST, CAST-256, ARCFOUR, SERPENT, SAFER+, and more. The algorithms and modes are also modular so you can add and remove them on the fly without recompiling the library. Changes: RC6 was updated according to the specification. LOKI97, SAFER+ and CAST-256 were added.
About: Vacation is an e-mail auto-responder loosely based on the original by Larry Wall and Tom Christiansen. It is designed to emulate most vacation clones and specifically, the early Solaris version. Changes: First public release.
About: ics.el is a comint based Emacs major mode for handling the text portion of communications with internet chess servers such as FICS and ICC. It is written in Emacs-Lisp and works best in conjunction with a graphical interface such as Xboard. It handles colour highlighting and "buttonisation" (making certain portions of text active so that, for example, you can challenge opponents with a single mouse click) as well as command recall and editing and automation of commands based on regexps seen in the ICS output, all highly customisable using Emacs lisp. Changes: First freshmeat announcement.
About: f/Calc is a utility to calculate lens formulae for photographers so you can focus on the artistic bits rather than on the mathematics behind it all. f/Calc can do "f" number arithmetic, and can calculate depth of field, hyperfocal distance, the field of view of a lens, the angle of view of a lens, magnification, and how the focal length of the lens on the camera changes the way the spot metering function works. In addition to the Unix/Linux Tcl/Tk version, there are native Windows, Palm OS, and Macintosh versions as well. Changes: Initial release of Tcl/Tk version.

About: FastTemplate is a PHP3 class for managing template files and performing variable interpolation. It is a strict port of Jason Moore's Perl module CGI::FastTemplate. Its primary use is to separate HTML and PHP code, making your PHP code cleaner. Changes: Added define_dynamic() and parse_dynamic(), and few typo corrections.

About: Code Crusader is a graphical Integrated Development Environment (IDE) designed to smoothly integrate the tasks of working with source files, compiling, and debugging; in short, everything involved in developing code. Changes: Added options to the Project and Editor, including the option to not alphabetize the function menu. Added ports to Digital UNIX (OSF1) and IRIX 5.3.
About: GNU shtool is a compilation of small but very stable and portable shell scripts into a single shell tool. All ingredients were in successful use over many years in various free software projects. The compiled shtool program is intended to be used inside the source tree of free software packages. There it can overtake various (usually non-portable) tasks related to the building and installation of an free software package. Changes: This is the first version of shtool under the GNU umbrella and is a completely overhauled and enhanced version of shtool 1.2.
About: WebMail is a WWW mail application that allows users to manage IMAP or POP3 mailboxes via an easy-to-use WWW-interface. It may be used, for example, to give users access to their mailboxes from anywhere in the world. It is written in Java and should run at least on the most popular Unix platforms. WebMail can run on its own HTTP server (users just have to point their browser to the configured server and port) or can be run as a Java Servlet. On the clientside, only a frames-capable browser is needed, no Javascript or Java. Changes: Support for HTTP/1.1 and Keep-Alive connections, SSL support, Java/Swing administration interface and many bugfixes.
About: wxWidgets is a cross-platform C++ GUI library, offering classes for all common GUI controls as well as a comprehensive set of helper classes for most common application tasks, ranging from networking to HTML display and image manipulation. wxWidgets uses native widgets on all platforms whenever possible and fills missing gaps on some platforms using generic controls written with wxWidgets itself. Changes: Build fixes, online documentation, new wxPython.

About: IRMP3 is a multimedia audio jukebox for Linux. IRMP3's strength is that it easily integrates into home, car, and mobile environments (where a keyboard/screen interface may not always be available). It supports several input and display devices such as infrared remote controls, LCD displays, network connections, and serial keypads. It includes a robust set of tools like alarms, sound environments, mixers, sleep functions, and more. It supports MP3 players and network-ready control & status monitoring, and includes a flexible, modularized source which allows functionality to be easily extended with user-developed code. About: Double Choco Latte is a system for tracking bugs, changes, enhancements, requests for software. The system is suited for multiple products and multiple accounts (clients). It is also known to handle call center activity, although this will evolve into a separate module. Changes: Fixed bug causing a blank page to show when adding a new WorkOrder (broken in v19990624).
About: BetaFTPD is a single-threaded FTP daemon. The single-threadedness makes it faster than most other FTP daemons (contrary to common belief), and makes it extremely light on memory. Although it lacks a few functions (which you probably won't miss), the current version is very small and has a decent amount of functionality. BetaFTPD is built on the concept of heavy code reuse, which should hopefully make it easier for other programmers to contribute. Changes: Most notably upload support and a critical PASV bugfix, but several minor bugs and compilation problems fixed too.
About: Amaya is a complete web browsing and authoring environment and comes equipped with a WYSIWYG style of interface. It lets users both browse and author valid Web pages, with standards including (X)HTML, native MathML, and SVG documents. It also includes a collaborative annotation application (RDF). Changes: User Interface improvements, including CSS and HTML templates for the editor, full presentation part of MathML is now supported, LibWWW updates, new keyboard shortcuts and user preference options. Bugs fixed with CSS, libjpeg, and more.
About: MyGuestbook is a simple guestbook that uses MySQL/PostgreSQL and PHP. It features an admin script to delete entries. Currently supported languages are German, English, Dutch, French, Norsk, Spanish, Finnish, Portuguese, Icelandic, Swedish, Russian, Polish, Japanese, Italian, Chinese, Bavarian, Turkish, Danish, and Swabian. Changes: Fixed another addslashes() Bug.
About: Libradio is a small, simple C library to control FM Tuner Cards supported by the Video for Linux API. Libradio is early in its development and as of yet has only been tested with the Aztech and WinTV cards. Changes: Added get_signal_strength, Added get_audio_flags, Major updates to the demo program, qdt.
About: zgv is a full-featured, svgalib-based picture viewer for VGA/SVGA displays which supports most popular formats. It provides a file selector with thumbnails to select file(s) to view, and allows panning and fit-to-screen methods of viewing, slideshows, scaling, etc. Changes: Support for 32-bit modes; zgv will now use a suitable 32-bit mode as a kind of substitute 24-bit mode, if a requested 24-bit mode is unavailable; you can now reverse the order in which brightness and contrast are applied, using `B' or the config file option `bc_order_rev'; fixed bug where thin images would cause FP exceptions; now has a less stupid check-for-high-colour-modes routine; `zgv -T' now outputs filenames followed by LFs, not spaces; multi-plane (4-bit or 24-bit) PCXs which had runs going across planes weren't decoded correctly; fixed that; when updating thumbnails, the "Resampling..." text could previously have appeared in just about any colour; vkludge in 8-bit modes is now slightly less accurate ), but considerably faster; you can now use R to rename a file, by analogy with C, M, and D for copy/move/delete and the old `README.src' was renamed to the more reasonable `INSTALL'.
About: CDPlayer.app is a small CD Audio Player for GNUstep. Changes: Fixed a bug in CDDB entry editor.
About: The console-tools package allows you to set-up and manipulate the Linux console (ie. text screen and keyboard), and manipulate console-font files. It was developed from version 0.94 of the standard `kbd' package, and integrates many fixes and enhancements, including new kbd features up to 0.99. Changes: New development branch 0.3.x, support for CP font-files is back and several library-level changes.
About: GNOME is the GNU Network Object Model Environment. This project is building a complete, user-friendly desktop based entirely on free software. This desktop consists of small utilities and larger applications that share a consistent look and feel. It uses the GTK as the GUI toolkit for all GNOME-compliant applications. Changes: This is mainly a bugfix release. Gnome-terminal has better session management, better appearance, can scroll pixmap backgrounds, and has an --execute or -x option. Fixed a bug in gnome-session where it would die if a RESTART_ALWAYS client died before finishing the registration process, stability fixes for the panel and various translation updates.
About: X-Chat is a fully-featured graphical IRC client using the GTK toolkit. Optionally it can be compiled to use GNOME and Perl scripting. Changes: New translations (it, de, ru, fr, fr_CA, es, pl), bug in text events fixed (affected PPC & maybe other systems), fixed small bug in color handling (zvt only) and some more buggy color codes in the default printevents.conf, added a few missing Text Events and %O code for Text Events (resets all text attributes and Bold/Underline/Reverse text should now work in ZVT. This is possibly the last version before 1.0. Report any problems to the author.
About: TWIG is a Web-based groupware suite written in PHP, compatible with both PHP3 and PHP4.
