 ngrep 1.31
 by N/A - Fri, Jun 25th 1999 23:23 UTC

About: ngrep strives to provide most of GNU grep's common features, applying them to the network layer. ngrep is a pcap-aware tool that will allow you to specify extended regular or hexadecimal expressions to match against data payloads of packets. It currently recognizes IPv4/6, TCP, UDP, ICMPv4/6, IGMP and Raw across Ethernet, PPP, SLIP, FDDI, Token Ring, and null interfaces, and understands BPF filter logic in the same fashion as more common packet sniffing tools, such as tcpdump and snoop.

Changes: A few new features and a manpage have been added.

 BetaFTPD 0.0.6
 by N/A - Fri, Jun 25th 1999 20:12 UTC

About: BetaFTPD is a single-threaded FTP daemon. The single-threadedness makes it faster than most other FTP daemons (contrary to common belief), and makes it extremely light on memory. Although it lacks a few functions (which you probably won't miss), the current version is very small and has a decent amount of functionality. BetaFTPD is built on the concept of heavy code reuse, which should hopefully make it easier for other programmers to contribute.

Changes: Most notably upload support and a critical PASV bugfix, but several minor bugs and compilation problems fixed too.

 zgv Zgv 3.3 (Stable)
 by N/A - Fri, Jun 25th 1999 19:55 UTC

About: zgv is a full-featured, svgalib-based picture viewer for VGA/SVGA displays which supports most popular formats. It provides a file selector with thumbnails to select file(s) to view, and allows panning and fit-to-screen methods of viewing, slideshows, scaling, etc.

Changes: Support for 32-bit modes; zgv will now use a suitable 32-bit mode as a kind of substitute 24-bit mode, if a requested 24-bit mode is unavailable; you can now reverse the order in which brightness and contrast are applied, using `B' or the config file option `bc_order_rev'; fixed bug where thin images would cause FP exceptions; now has a less stupid check-for-high-colour-modes routine; `zgv -T' now outputs filenames followed by LFs, not spaces; multi-plane (4-bit or 24-bit) PCXs which had runs going across planes weren't decoded correctly; fixed that; when updating thumbnails, the "Resampling..." text could previously have appeared in just about any colour; vkludge in 8-bit modes is now slightly less accurate ), but considerably faster; you can now use R to rename a file, by analogy with C, M, and D for copy/move/delete and the old `README.src' was renamed to the more reasonable `INSTALL'.
