 BetaFTPD 0.0.7
 by N/A - Sat, Jun 26th 1999 21:44 UTC

About: BetaFTPD is a single-threaded FTP daemon. The single-threadedness makes it faster than most other FTP daemons (contrary to common belief), and makes it extremely light on memory. Although it lacks a few functions (which you probably won't miss), the current version is very small and has a decent amount of functionality. BetaFTPD is built on the concept of heavy code reuse, which should hopefully make it easier for other programmers to contribute.

Changes: Added shadow and connection timeout support. In addition, the README has been freshened up, and some extra configure checks have been added.

 IPTraf 2.0.0
 by N/A - Sat, Jun 26th 1999 06:52 UTC

About: IPTraf is an ncurses-based IP LAN monitor that generates various network statistics including TCP info, UDP counts, ICMP and OSPF information, Ethernet load info, node stats, IP checksum errors, and others.

Changes: This is a new version that uses some new features of the Linux 2.2 kernels to provide some new pieces of information, plus a few changes in the user interface. For those using Linux 2.0.x, you will still have to continue using version 1.4.3 (which is still supported of course).

 Alien 6.41
 by N/A - Sat, Jun 26th 1999 06:50 UTC

About: Alien converts between the rpm, deb, Stampede slp, and Slackware tgz file formats. If you want to use a package from another distribution than the one you have installed on your system, you can use alien to convert it to your preferred package format and install it.

Changes: Fixed the Makefile so it doesn't keep files owned by 500.500, and --version/-v works.

 GMailWatch 1.0
 by N/A - Sat, Jun 26th 1999 06:47 UTC

About: GMailWatch is a GNOME Panel Applet that displays a summary of incoming mail (sender/subject) rather than just an icon. It's similar to the old xmailwatcher utility (and uses some of the same code), and is also based upon mailcheck (of gnome-core). The user can change the size of the panel applet.

Changes: First version.

 bpowerd 3.0b1 (Beta)
 by N/A - Sat, Jun 26th 1999 06:44 UTC

About: bpowerd is a daemon and makes proper use of the system log for error checking. It uses init's powerstatus calls to do it's dirty work, instead of calling shutdown itself. bpowerd is easy to compile and configure, using GNU's autoconf and providing explicit instructions for testing and installation. bpowerd was created using specs provided from the manufacturer, as opposed to reverse-engineering.

Changes: Updated to support a new cable from Best. The author requests feedback as to whether this cable works, since he does not own such a cable.
