 Gnumeric 0.32 (Stable)
 by N/A - Sun, Aug 22nd 1999 22:39 UTC

About: Gnumeric is a powerful and easy to use spreadsheet using GNOME. Its goal is to provide a full featured spreadsheet and a smooth migration path for people and organizations currently using proprietary applications. It provides more sheet functions and greatly improved accuracy when compared to Microsoft's Excel. A plugin system lets you extend Gnumeric, adding functions, I/O formats, and real time data capabilities. The existing Python, Guile, and Perl plugins let you define complex functions. Gnumeric is capable of reading and writing MS Excel (XLS and Office Open XML), and reading Lotus, Applix, Quattro Pro, OpenCalc (ODF), XBase, DIF, SYLK, HTML, Psion, MPS, oleo, sc, misc. text formats, and its native XML. It can also generate Latex, HTML, and others.

Changes: Lots of new analysis tools, summary info, better Excel import and export, basic lotus import, tons of new functions, ergonomic improvements, scrolling sheet tabs for large sheets, updated CORBA interface, Bonobo embeddable-grid object as well as tons of bug fixes and updated translations.

 Unlimited Simulator Alpha 9
 by N/A - Sun, Aug 22nd 1999 21:48 UTC

About: Unlimited Simulator is not a game. It's a basis to create whatever simulations you want, from games to scientific simulations. You only have to worry about physics, controls and how the world looks like. It can be at the same time a car simulator, a spaceships war game, or a scientific simulation. While you can do these things on their own, Unlimited Simulator provides the ability to do all three at once. It allows interaction of completely different kinds of clients, thus achieving unprecedent realism and complexity.

Changes: This announcement is intended as a call for developers.

This version has been extended to work with the DataLink Ironman Triathlon watch. It has been tested with the Linux SVGAlib output on the Ironman watch only, other output devices and other watches may or may not work, I have no reports either way. The display must be a CRT display (not a LCD).

 Plex86 FreeMWare 19990817c
 by N/A - Sun, Aug 22nd 1999 21:34 UTC

About: The Plex86 project (formerly known as FreeMWare) is an attempt to create an x86 virtual machine will allow PC and workstation users to run multiple operating systems concurrently on the same machine. It is meant to be similar to previous commercial implementations of the same concept. The initial goal is to make it work under Linux, but more operating systems may be supported either as host or as guest in the future.

Changes: Added irq16 vector to the init_monitor() call. If you pass a 0, no irq16 redirect handler is installed. Irq16 is the APIC IPI interrupt, which is used on multiple processor compiles of Linux (SMP). Also fixed the previous interrupt bug.
