About: IglooFTP PRO is the commercial version of IglooFTP, an award winning FTP Client. Its main features are to be easy to use and intuitive when used by novice, but powerful and fully configurable in the hand of experienced users. IglooFTP PRO makes full usage of the GTK+ library and offers much more features than any other graphical client available on Unix based systems including FXP transfers, extensed Firewall support, Drag&Drop, URL clipboard monitoring, Remote Directory Caching, and much, much more. Changes: Important fixes and several little improvments.
About: jake (Jointly Administered Knowledge Environment) is a reference source which makes finding, managing, and linking online journals and journal articles easier for students, researchers, and librarians. jake does this by managing online resource metadata with a database union list, title authority control, linking tools, and a local holdings layer. Changes: Support for many databases added, various minor bugfixes, now uses a simpler XML model for managing URL patterns for linking.
About: Cervisia is a KDE graphical frontend for the CVS client. It features checking out a module from a repository, updating or retrieving the status of a working directory or single files, common operations like add, remove and commit, diff against the repository and between different revisions, annotated view of a file, view of the log messages in tree and list form as well as resolving of conflicts in a file. Changes: Added ChangeLog editor, solved several UI issues, added tooltips to log tree, added settings dialog, and made compilation with KRASH possible (while maintaining compatibility with KDE 1.1).
About: catdvi translates a TeX Device Independent (DVI) file into readable plain text as well as possible given the limitations of the target format. Changes: Implemented a new layout algorithm which makes everything except alignment-based layout come out mostly right, as well as some less important changes.
About: memtester is a user-space utility for testing the memory subsystem in a computer to determine if it is faulty. It does a good job of finding intermittent faults and non-deterministic faults. It has many tests to help catch borderline memory. memtester should compile and run on any 32- or 64-bit Unix or Unix-like system. Changes: Added 'Stuck Address' test, added explanations of output messages to manpage, fixed an ouput bug when errors are found, changed numbering scheme a touch, cleaned up logging, logfile is now in addition to stderr, added specification of memory in units other than MB, added a manpage, cleaned up some remnants from test code changing, bogus testing will not now be reported, and changed memory allocation algorithm to handle memory allocation in non- default units.
About: syslog-ng is a syslogd replacement supporting IPv6 and capable of transferring log messages reliably using TCP and filtering the content of messages using regular expressions. It has several macros that allow users to dynamically create target directories and files or reformat messages. Changes: Added some features like DEFAULT filter, filename macro expansion, kept-alive connections upon daemon restart and a couple of bugfixes.
About: FXPy is a Python extension module which provides an interface to the FOX cross-platform GUI library. With a few minor exceptions, FXPy provides a complete interface to FOX. FOX is a C++-based toolkit for developing graphical user interfaces easily and effectively, and it runs natively under both Unix/X and Microsoft Windows. Some of the significant features of FOX include a rich set of widgets, powerful but easy-to-use layout managers, extensive support for 3-D modeling using OpenGL or Mesa, drag-and-drop (using the XDND protocol) and a registry for persistent application settings. Changes: This is a minor update to FXPy, mainly to provide compatibility with FOX version 0.99.87.
About: jwhois is an Internet Whois client that contains an extensible configuration file, which defines its operation. The client supports queries to foreign hosts, either through the RFC 954 - NICNAME/WHOIS protocol, the RFC 2167 - Referral Whois 1.5 protocol, or HTTP using an external browser. Upon execution, it searches through its configuration to find the most specific whois server to query. Depending upon the reply from that whois server, it can assume the query was successfull and display the result to the user, or optionally redirect the query to another server to find more specific information. Changes: Bugfixes, improved stability, and rewrote large code portions to make the code more readable.
About: Yacas is a general purpose, easy to use Computer Algebra System (a CAS is a program that can be used to do symbolic manipulation of mathematical expressions). It is built on top of its own programming language designed for this purpose, in which new algorithms can easily be implemented. In addition, it comes with extensive documentation on the functionality implemented and methods used to implement them. Changes: The online HTML documentation is now generated using Yacas itself as a document processing language, much like LaTeX.
About: Inspired by logcolorizer, colorlog, acl, colorgcc, colortail, and others, Generic Colouriser can be used to colourise any files or outputs of commands. It's written in python and configurable via regular expressions. Changes: Changed configuration file format, added possibility to use different colours per different regexp groups, and added execution of external commands if regexp matches.
About: eXtace is a visual sound display/analysis program. It requires Esound (esd) for its audio source. It includes various fast fourier transforms of the audio data in realtime. Its displays include a 3D wireframe flying landscape, a 3D textured flying landscape, a 16-256 channel graphic EQ, three types of scopes, a 3D "spike" flying landscape, and two forms of spectragrams. The 3D traces can be picked up, manipulated, and displayed at nearly any angle. eXtace also features a 3D direction control widget for controlling the angle and speed at which the trace runs away and a gradient/colormap editor for changing the colormap to suit your needs. No OpenGL is required. Changes: Completely new control panel, 2 new scopes, scope routines rewritten for speed, and various bugfixes. If this version does not work as expected, remove your ~/.eXtace/config file.
About: aewm is a minimalist window manager for X11. It has no nifty features, but is light on resources and extremely simple in appearance. It should eventually make a good reference implementation of the ICCCM. A few separate programs are included to handle running programs, switching between windows, etc. Changes: Geometry and memory leaks fixed, included a man page, as well as more consistent borders for transient windows.
About: Qtcd is yet another CD player for Linux. The user interface is very simple and does not take up a large amount of desktop space. It has CDDB support, and will load a local copy of the entry or access the remote server if needed. Changes: Added volume/balance control, optional small buttons and minimized views, commands are now included on the menu, and fixed the abspos() method of the CD class which did not return correctly.
About: ClanLib is a cross-platform game SDK currently supporting Windows and Linux. It provides easy-to-use interfaces for 2D graphics, input, sound, resources, networking, GUI, OpenGL, and more. The goal is to provide a game SDK that does all the dirty work that all modern games need to implement anyway, thus making the game developer concentrate on the gameplay instead of reinventing the wheel over and over again. Changes: Major improvements like MGA accelerated FBDev support.
About: ClanBomber is a Bomberman-like multiplayer game that uses ClanLib, a free multi-platform C++ game SDK. It is fully playable and features computer controlled bombers, but it is recommended to play with friends (3-8 players is best). Changes: Many bugfixes, new "Melting Metal" theme, map editor, and more.
About: htnews is a highly configurable email robot for adding news items to a webpage. All one has to do is to send an email to a special adress. htnews supports templates, multiple configurations and a basic authentication system. Changes: Various bugfixes, a few new features and additions, and introduced a new config format.
About: hping is a network tool able to send custom ICMP/UDP/TCP packets and to display target replies like ping does with ICMP replies. It handles fragmentation and arbitrary packet body and size, and can be used to transfer files under supported protocols. Using it you can test firewall rules, perform (spoofed) port scanning, test net performance using different protocols, packet size, TOS (type of service), and fragmentation, do path MTU discovery, transfer files (even between fascist firewalls), perform traceroute-like actions under different protocols, fingerprint remote OSs, audit a TCP/IP stack, etc. It is a good tool for learning TCP/IP. Changes: Fixed major bugs, added updated man page, fixed bug where all offset was computed using the ip header length of the last packet and for the first incoming packet using uninitialized bytes, improved configure and Makefile, fixed a bug which, in some circumstance, returned a negative rtt, added an initial sanity check for faster problem tracing, introduced some parser fixes and more limits for non root users, added possibility to combine short options, BSD ethernet names updated, fixed BSD PPP link header size, added new `utils' directory and the hex2bin utility, and generally enhanced distribution.
About: This package is intended to facilitate RFC calls to an SAP R/3 system of release 3.1x and above. It may work for earlier versions but it hasn't been tested. The fundamental purpose of the production of this package, is to provide a clean object oriented interface to RFC calls from within perl. This will hopefully have a number of effects: (1) make it really easy to do RFC calls to SAP from perl in an object oriented fashion (Doh!) (2) promote perl as the interface/scripting/glue language of choice for interaction with SAP R/3. (3) make the combination of Linux, Apache, and perl the killer app for internet connectivity with SAP. (4) Establish a small fun open source project that people are more than welcome to contribute to, if they so wish. Changes: Initial announcement.
About: The HP OfficeJet Linux driver provides printing, scanning, and photo-card access support for most Hewlett-Packard multi-function peripherals connected to a parallel port, USB port, or LAN via selected HP JetDirect print servers. Additional applications are provided to view the contents of the front-panel LCD and to access other control and status features of the device. Changes: Some bugfixes in the kernel driver code, and added a little Qt application displaying the contents of the LC display from the OfficeJet panel on the desktop.

About: Pybliographer is a tool for managing bibliographic databases. It supports several bibliography formats (BibTeX, Refer, Medline, ISI, Ovid) and can be used for searching, editing, reformatting, etc, through its nice graphical interface for GNOME. Due to its nature, it can be extended to many uses (generating HTML pages according to bibliographic searches, etc). It is provided with sample scripts. Changes: Internationalization, support for Medline, support for LyX, speedups, and more.
About: emelFM is a file manager that implements the popular two-pane design. It features a simple GTK+ interface, a flexible filetyping scheme, and a built-in command line for executing commands without opening an xterm. Changes: Added drag and drop support, a special functions menu, and fixed several crashes.
About: gFTP is a free multithreaded file transfer client for *NIX based machines running X11R6 or later. It has text and GTK+ 1.2/2.x interfaces and supports the FTP, FTPS (control connection only), HTTP, HTTPS, FSP, and SSH protocols and has FTP and HTTP proxy server support. It supports UNIX, EPLF, Novell, MacOS, VMS, MVS, and NT (DOS) style directory listings, and has a bookmarks menu that allows you to quickly connect to remote sites. The code is fully internationalized and there are currently 45 translations available.
About: FIDOGATE is a Fido-Internet gateway and a Fido tosser. The gateway converts between the worlds of Fido NetMail/EchoMail (or FTNs, Fido Technology Networks in general) and the UNIX mail/news system. FIDOGATE will convert Fido mail packets to RFC822/1036-style messages and vice versa. Changes: Initial announcement.
About: TkRat is a graphical Mail User Agent (MUA) which handles MIME. It is mainly written in C, but the user interface is done in Tcl/Tk. The program currently understands UNIX mailboxes, POP, IMAP, and mh folders. Messages are sent via SMTP or any user configured program (sendmail, for example). It has support for disconnected IMAP operations.
About: Nmap ("Network Mapper") is a utility for network exploration, administration, and security auditing. It uses IP packets in novel ways to determine which hosts are available online (host discovery), which TCP/UDP ports are open (port scanning), and what applications and services are listening on each port (version detection). It can also identify remote host OS and device types via TCP/IP fingerprinting. Nmap offers flexible target and port specifications, decoy/stealth scanning for firewall and IDS evasion, and highly optimized timing algorithms for fast scanning. Changes: Additions including "firewall mode" timing optimizations and the min_rtt_timeout timing option.
About: R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It is similar to S, which was developed at Bell Laboratories by John Chambers et al. It provides a wide variety of statistical and graphical techniques (linear and nonlinear modelling, statistical tests, time series analysis, classification, clustering, etc.). R is designed as a true computer language with control-flow constructions for iteration and alternation, and it allows users to add additional functionality by defining new functions. For computationally intensive tasks, Fortran and C code can be linked and called at run time. Changes: Packages nls and splines are now in the base distribution, new error handling has been added and scaling of symbols in graphics is now possible. About: TiLP is a linking program for Texas Instruments' graphing calculators. It can handle any TI calculator from TI73 to V200 with any link cable (parallel, serial, TI's Black/Gray/Silver Link, AVRlink, and virtual). It features backup and restore, sending and receiving variables, ROM dumping, screen captures, grouping and ungrouping of TI files, and runs on UNIX, Windows, and Mac OS. Changes: Full support for the Gray TI Graph Link. Preliminary TI83 support.
About: Oneiro is a text-centric game engine. Changes: New features including Gamora networking and threads, materials and factories, a reworking of stats and descriptions and other features and bugfixes.
About: gfocustimer tracks your movement between windows and charges the time you spend in each window toward tasks that you define. It is useful if you need to fill in timesheets, or manage your time at the keyboard better. Changes: Mostly a bugfix release which fixes loss of totals, fixes various window resize issues, avoids segmentation fault on windows with no WM_NAME property, adds a scrolled window to the task list, and automatically resizes the task list.
About: Objective Caml is the latest implementation of the Caml dialect of ML. It has full support for objects and classes combined with ML-style type reconstruction, a powerful module calculus in the style of Standard ML (but retaining separate compilation), a high-performance native code compiler (in addition to a Caml Light-style bytecode compiler), and labeled arguments with possible default value. Changes: Bugfix release. License changed to LGPL for the runtime system and the libraries. The rest of the system is licensed under the QPL.
About: Terraform allows you to create fractal terrain (also called a height field) and transform it using a number of algorithms. It is meant to be a tool for those who want to generate digital terrain models for use in raytracing or other simulations. Terraform features different views and colormaps and has a preview mode which features interactive real-time rotation of the terrain object. Terraform is written for the GNOME desktop environment. Changes: A few bug fixes, improvements to the contour line algorithm, added code which writes contour lines to Postscript, and added (experimental) support for OpenGL.
About: SMM++ Mud Client is a mud client with extended and unique features. Aside from all standard mud client functionality like ANSI color support, aliases, action triggers, and tab-completion, SMM++ features a highly-customizable user interface (labels, buttons, and menus) and unique and powerful mapping capabilities, and SMM++ is the only mapping crossplatform (Tcl/Tk based) mud client available. Changes: Added multiline commands, internal scriptfile editor (including syntax highlighting and auto-indention), and implemented commands for loading user- and SMM++ scriptfiles.
About: gentoo is a file manager written in C. It uses the GTK+ toolkit, and the two-pane concept, somewhat inspired by DOpus. gentoo strives to be very configurable, and also to let you do all configuration from a GUI within the program itself. Using advanced file typing and styling systems, gentoo determines how to display files in its listings, and also how to act on them. The package includes a set of over 120 unique handcrafted icons, for many different types of files. Changes: GetSize no longer loses track of a pane's vertical position. The FileAction command was fixed to work better with a single command, allowing it to handle multiple selected files. SelectRE can now match regexps against any column, not just the name. Some tooltips were added. The core-file copying routine has been rewritten.
About: theosim is a simulation and compilation package of several languages which are of theoretical relevance only (PASCALLI, PASCALLINO and RAM). Changes: All outstanding bugs have been fixed.
About: IceWM is a window manager designed for speed, usability, and consistency. It is able to emulate the looks of Motif, OS/2, and Windows, and allows you to have a customizable look using pixmaps. Changes: Bugfixes involving xawtv and detection of old kstat on Solaris (pre 2.6). A new "TitleButtonsSupported" option for themes has been added.
