About: Hoard is a scalable memory allocator (malloc replacement) for multithreaded applications. Hoard can dramatically improve your application's performance on multiprocessor machines. No changes to your source are necessary; just link it in. Hoard scales linearly up to at least 14 processors. The supported platforms include Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, and Windows NT/2000/XP/64. Changes: This release fixes a subtle bug in memalign().
About: OpenVerse is similar to other graphical chat systems like Excite Chat and Microsoft Chat, with the main differences being that OpenVerse is open source software, has no advertisements, and also runs on a variety of systems including Windows, Unix, Macintosh, and just about anything else for which you can find a copy of TCL/TK. Changes: A fix for an obscure, but important, security bug. Upgrade recommended. Other changes include a history of room visits, bug fixes with canceled room downloads, a text notice is now sent when personal info is requested, server bugfix where logging in users were shown when they should not have been, a fix for a file location problem in the Avatar Editor, a bugfix related to having nametags shut off, installation of a GNOME icon in the applications menu, some performance enhancements in the server and client code, and a bugfix in setup screen relating to default server.
About: Abook is small and powerful ncurses based addressbook program designed to use with mutt mail client. Abook runs on Linux and FreeBSD operating systems. Changes: Bugfixes and minor improvements.

Highlights of the current release are: an application wizard for easy creation of KDE 3 and 4, Qt 3 and 4, GNOME, and terminal C/C++ projects, full project management, a syntax-highlighting editor, code completion, an integrated dialog editor for the Qt/KDE GUI libraries, an internal debugger, a full-featured class browser with class tools, CVS and SVN support, an integrated HTML-based helpsystem offering manuals and class-references, and extensive search mechanisms to browse sources and documentation. Changes: An internal debugger, visible bookmarks, comment/uncomment code in editor window, enable/disable autocopy in kwrite, htdig search engine support, addition of QButtonGroup to the dialogeditor, a new Estonian translation, improved NetBSD support, syntax-highlighting for Pascal, fixes for problems in NFS systems, and several other bugfixes.
About: curl and libcurl is a tool for transferring files using URL syntax. It supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, FTPS, SCP, SFTP, TFTP, DICT, TELNET, LDAP, and FILE, as well as HTTP-post, HTTP-put, cookies, FTP upload, resumed transfers, passwords, port numbers, SSL certificates, Kerberos, and proxies. It is powered by libcurl, the client-side URL transfer library. There are bindings to libcurl for over 30 languages and environments. Changes: A BeOS port, --stderr improvements, -X for FTP, a fix for -b, FTP now works better with URL codes in file names, the progress meter is improved, $(top_dir) is now used in the makefile.am files for better build environment, and all error codes are now documented in the man page.
About: XawTV is a simple Xaw-based TV program which uses the bttv driver or video4linux. It also contains various command-line utilities for grabbing images and AVI movies, tuning in TV stations, etc. Changes: Bugfixes, values for volume, contrast, color, etc., can be specified in percent too, 32768 More led fonts (latin2, koi8), addition of the UHF frequencies to europe-cable, and some changes in yuv-to-offscreen handling for fbtv due to bttv changes.
About: hc-cron is a cron daemon for 'home computers'. It runs specified jobs at periodic intervals and will remember the time when it was shut down and catch up jobs that have occurred during down time when it is started again. Hc-cron is based on the widely used vixie-cron and uses the same crontab format so that it can be used as a drop-in replacement for that program. Changes: RPMification cleanups have been added, and hc-cron now uses SIG_CHLD for inter-process communication by default.
About: Yacas is a general purpose, easy to use Computer Algebra System (a CAS is a program that can be used to do symbolic manipulation of mathematical expressions). It is built on top of its own programming language designed for this purpose, in which new algorithms can easily be implemented. In addition, it comes with extensive documentation on the functionality implemented and methods used to implement them. Changes: Much nicer (Mathematica-style) pattern matching rules for simplification can now be specified. See the introduction manual for more details.
About: DSWIM is a powerful informational tool for Debian's packaging system. Designed with an integrated approach it combines the functionality found in several other programs and scripts. This provides users with a centralized approach for querying the installation, allowing programmers the liberty of writing smaller and simpler code. Changes: A repair for a bug in longswim which caused the uninstalled filesystem to be made with packages which looked like spaces.
About: X-CD-Roast is a program-package dedicated to easy CD creation under most Unix-platforms. It combines command line tools like "cdrecord", "cdda2wav", and "mkisofs" into a nice graphical user interface. Changes: This is another snapshot of the current development tree of X-CD-Roast 0.98. It implements an index scanner for audio tracks, uses the bulk-mode of cdda2wav when copying full CDs, and inculudes some bug fixes. Only the menu to master your own CDs is missing now; all other base functionality is included. Translations are now included for English, German, Dutch, French, Swedish, Danish, Spanish, and Estonian.
About: lftp is a sophisticated command line based file transfer program. Supported protocols include FTP, HTTP, SFTP, and FISH. It has a multithreaded design allowing you to issue and execute multiple commands simultaneously or in the background. It also features mirroring capabilities and will reconnect and continue transfers in the event of a disconnection. Also, if you quit the program while transfers are still in progress, it will switch to nohup mode and finish the transfers in the background. Additional protocols supported: FTP over HTTP proxy, HTTPS and FTP over SSL. There are lots of tunable parameters, including rate limitation, number of connections limitation and more. Changes: A critical bug in the HTML parser has been fixed, and a couple of other minor bugs have been squashed.
About: elm is one of the most common mail readers for unix. Changes: The declaration of outbound_from_name, the leapyear macro, and the editing of a long CC line have been fixed. Mail that lands in sentmail with attachments now has the Content-disposition header text added to the message. Configure has been fixed to (again) find fcntl on Linux. allto is now a bit longer, and can_access will now allow you to write to a char device (/dev/null).
About: Mandriva is an RPM-based Linux distribtion. It excels at usability and simplicity, features thoroughly preconfigured KDE and GNOME desktops, and includes cool tools like supermount (transparent access to removable media) and DiskDrake (a full-featured graphical hard-drive partitioner). Unlike former versions, Mandriva is not a tuned-up Red Hat, but a very mature Linux distribution on its own. Mandriva is published by a company, but is a completely open and transparent free-software project. Changes: Linux-Mandrake 7.0 includes graphical tools that provide a simplified system installation, including DrakX, an open-source graphical installation procedure utility. DiskDrake, a hard drive partitioning tool, and DrakConf, a desktop configuration panel. It also includes the latest Linux Kernel (2.2.14) with the Supermount utility, the latest XFree86 (3.3.6), a high level of internationalization (50 languages available), and many desktop enhancements and customizations.
About: TkUsr is a small program that allows you to manage the Self-mode of USR/3Com Message/Professional modems. You can use it to retrieve voice messages and faxes. It features smart retrieving with a cache system, so you do not have to download the whole memory when you only want a single fax. Changes: A bug in multiple page (fax) handling has been fixed, new messages are now shown before old ones, and support has been added for more modem features.
About: AutoRPM is a program that can do any combination of the following: mirror RPMs from an FTP site, keep installed RPMs consistent with an FTP site or local directory and keep installed RPMs in a cluster or network of systems consistent. It is highly flexible and contains a fully command-line driven interactive install mode (for installing RPMs from the queue or for installing RPMs from your system interactively). It also handles recursive dependencies, multiple versions of the same RPM, the same RPM with multiple architectures, and more. It does some of the same tasks as up2date and AutoUpdate.
About: GeneWeb is a system for people who want to publish their genealogy data on the Web. It can also be used locally (not connected on the net) as a normal genealogy program. It uses very efficient techniques of relationship and consanguinity computing, speaks several languages, and can run in conjunction with an existing Web server (CGI) or standalone using its own internal server.
About: HPTalx transfers files from/to your HP 48/49 calculator, has backup and restore capabilities, and a lot of other nice features. Changes: Bug fix release.
About: The EnergyMech is an advanced IRC bot. It has many features including a DCC party line, powerful user list handling, a telnet console, bot linking, and more. Changes: The HELP and KSLIST commands have been fixed, some memory leaks have been plugged, SEEN handling has been optimized, and some compiling issues have been corrected.
About: Knapster is a Linux KDE client of Napster, the MP3 download utility. It supports most of the napster client operations such as searching by songname/band, messaging, chat channels, downloads and uploads, and an mp3 library. Changes: Several minor bug fixes, minor GUI changes, user messaging, channel support, pinging of users, whois, and better error reporting.
About: IPWatch will reconfigure your machine after an IP change by reinitializing the hostname, restarting the system logging facilities to use the new hostname, restarting your firewall, and updating your dynamic hostname (it supports yi.org, homepc.org, justlinux.com, dhs.org, dyndns.org, and dyndns.com). It will also restart your network if your machine loses connectivity. In both cases, email is sent with a full log of everything that's been done (including your new IP address). Changes: This release fixes a bug that caused IPWatch to start several instances of itself on RedHat machines.
About: Celebrat is a very easy-to-use, non-interactive, text-mode calendar application. It reads a data file in ASCII format, and prints on stdout a human-language summary of what events will take place up to ten days from now. It also includes a small daemon which announces events that are due by putting a message on every registered terminal, or by integrating the announcement in the bottom line of GNU screen sessions. Changes: Compilation support for gcc 2.95.2.
About: GNU nano (Nano's ANOther editor, or Not ANOther editor) is an enhanced clone of the Pico text editor. Changes: Files load much faster, a new next word function (control-space), and bugfixes galore.
About: Amaya is a complete web browsing and authoring environment and comes equipped with a WYSIWYG style of interface. It lets users both browse and author valid Web pages, with standards including (X)HTML, native MathML, and SVG documents. It also includes a collaborative annotation application (RDF). Changes: Support of the latest version of XHTML 1.0 and an incomplete GTK version.
About: MIT/GNU Scheme is an implementation of the Scheme programming language, providing an interpreter, compiler, source-code debugger, integrated Emacs-like editor, and a large runtime library. MIT/GNU Scheme is best suited to programming large applications with a rapid development cycle. Recent versions of the system are supported on the following platforms: GNU/Linux, *BSD, OS/2, and Windows. Changes: Rewritten international keyboard support for Windows, and a number of bugfixes, including an unpleasant Y2K bug in RMAIL.
About: Acalc is a small console-based calculator written in Python. Changes: A total rewrite of version 1.2; it is much stabler, and now has a function called 'find percentage'.
About: Mutt is a small but very powerful text-based MIME mail client. It is highly configurable, and is well-suited to the mail power user with advanced features like key bindings, keyboard macros, mail threading, regular expression searches, and a powerful pattern matching language for selecting groups of messages. Changes: IMAP SSL support and general IMAP improvements.
About: cdenc lets you encode whole audio CDs in a special directory which can be burned on CDROM afterwards. It tries to extract all necessary informations for the mp3info tags from the CDDB. It also produces HTML files using wish, including the coverpicture of the disc, tracks.idx files for the sajber jukebox, long filenames for a conventional player, and bitmaps with the cd titles for usage with the Yamakawa/Raite MP3 player AV715. cdenc makes it easy to produce MP3 CDs which work fine with Sajber Jukebox, WinAmp, and Yamakawa the same time. Changes: Functionality with gimp 1.1.11.
About: imaptool is a X/Motif utility for creating client-side image maps. It supports all three shapes (rectangle, circle, and polygon), and loads JPEG and GIF images. Changes: Initial public release.
About: Pidentd v3 is a much improved version of the original Ident daemon both in terms of speed, code quality and features. Features include multithreading, a "configure" script, startup autodetection, much clearer/rewritten C code, doesn't run as root after startup, has a configuration file and can be started from /etc/inittab (on systems using a SysV init). Changes: Solaris 8 support, a bugfix with a missing setsid() call causing Pidentd to terminate when running as a standalone daemon, and support for using /dev/random (on Linux) for encryption key generation.
About: PyleWiki is a WikiClone written entirely in Python that allows a group of people to collaboratively edit a tree of webpages using nothing but their browser and a simple, text-based markup language. This particular WikiClone has a few extensions to the original: attachments to pages, user authentication (primitive), and the use of templates for page styling among others. Changes: First freshmeat announcement.
About: Hu-Go! is a PC Engine Emulator for Linux/i386 under console and X11. It plays Hu cards and CDs (and various forms of dumps from them). Changes: Initial freshmeat announcement; sound support.
About: PRepS is a problem reporting and tracking system similar to Gnats, only simpler to use. Currently, PRepS is best used with smaller projects or projects where all developers have access to the same network. For more "remote" projects, Gnats may be a better choice. Changes: A login dialog box that will be used if the initial login fails for some reason (PostgreSQL requires a password for example), a 'doc' dir to the install so $prefix/share/preps is not so cluttered, and docs are now installed there.
About: The Apache JServ is a Java servlet engine, an external process written in Java which runs separate from the web server and handles requests to Java servlets. mod_jserv is an Apache HTTPD module written in C which provides an interface to the Apache JServ engine. Changes: A completely re-worked installation system, many bugfixes, feature enhancements, and speed improvements, including an optional thread pooling system and new AJP protocol version.
