About: cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs/DVDs with a CDR/CDRW/DVD recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. It supports CD/DVD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc- and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features include IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs, full multi-session support, CDRWs (rewritable), DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW, TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD/DVD writers. Changes: Forced DAO to circumvent Ricoh Firmware bug, Sanyo BURN-Proof support, many new codes for disk manufarturer decoder, better TOC handling in cdda2wav, APPLE HFS hybrid code integrated into mkisofs, completely rewritten ISO-9660 filename handling, full UNICODE support for Joliet, and more.
About: MOSIX is a management system targeted for high performance computing on Linux clusters and multi-cluster organizational grids. In MOSIX, there is no need to modify or link applications with any library, copy files or login to remote nodes, or even assign processes to different nodes. It is all done automatically, similar to a single computer with multiple processors; just fork and forget. Changes: Bugfixes and support for the AFS file system.
About: The unixODBC project provides Unix applications with the same ODBC 3.51 API and facilities available under Windows. It provides a Driver Manager that supports the full ODBC API and performs the ODBC 3 to ODBC 2 translations with UNICODE to ANSI conversion. It also includes a set of graphical utilities that allow users to specify connections to DBMSes to be used by applications, a collection of ODBC drivers including a simple text based driver, an NNTP driver, a Postgres driver and others, and a selection of templates and libraries that to aid in the construction of ODBC drivers. It works with MySQL, Postgres, StarOffice/OpenOffice, Applixware, iHTML, PHP, Perl DBD::ODBC, and many other applications and drivers. Connection pooling is also provided to increase performance with applications such as PHP. Changes: Assorted minor bugfixes, and functionality with Star Office 5.2.
About: Komba is a Samba share browser for KDE. It can mount and unmount shares. Changes: Some small bugfixes, and a way to look for a given hostname.
About: AIDE (Advanced Intrusion Detection Environment) is a free replacement for Tripwire(tm). It generates a database that can be used to check the integrity of files on server. It uses regular expressions for determening which files get added to the database. You can use several message digest algorithms to ensure that the files have not been tampered with. Changes: AIDE now has compressed database support using zlib. The Mhash support has been updated, along with linkname checking. A few bug fixes have been included.
About: The DNEWS News Server is a (USENET) news server. Installing your own local news server software gives you complete control to create your own discussion forums for communication. DNews News Server software provides many features, including ease-of-use, reliability, and scalability. Changes: This release is mainly a security patch for dnewsweb. It also adds compression, a multipart binary file completion system, and a new email gatewaying system.
About: E-Notes is an application delete, create, and configure your notes. The configuration can modify all properties of a note, like the border, title, text, colors (text and background), background image, font, padding, transparency, window attributes, shading, and defaults. An alarm can also be set for each note, and it works with the Enlightenment epplet and Window Maker dockapp. Changes: A new alarm clock, full Enlightenment epplet compatibility (in the make procedure, just choose which one you want: the dockapp or the epplet), real clickable buttons which disappear when not needed, and a non-withdrawn window startup option for the dockapp.
About: phplist is a mailing list and newsletter manager that allows posting via a Web page. It works well when used for announcements, and can handle very large email address lists. Users can sign up to multiple lists, but will only receive a single copy of cross-posted messages. When signing up, users can identify their geographical location, and messages can be targetted to these. You can add place holders in your email that will be replaced with personal details (such as the person's name). Users can update their own information, and unlike many other mailing list systems, they can change their email address. HTML emails are supported. Changes: First release.
About: FilterProxy is a Perl script that acts as a generic Web proxy. It is unique in that it allows you to install modules that can perform arbitrary transformations on HTML (or any other MIME-type) and HTTP headers. It filters ads by stripping HTML from the page, anonymizes requests by removing Referer and User-Agent headers, compresses HTML content, and de-animates animated gifs. Configuration is done via Web-based forms or editing a Perl data structure. Changes: A new header module enables headers to be removed (anonymizes requests), and arbitrary headers added to the request. All children now exit if the parent exits. It now works with another proxy and includes code cleanups and bug fixes.
About: Kwav2cd is a CDRDao frontend to create audio CDs from .wav or .mp3 files. Changes: A file-dialog was added, now you have the possibility to choose the files via dialog or drag and drop them.
About: Diablo is a backbone news transit system, designed to replace INND on backbone machines. The transit part of Diablo is well established and should work flawlessly. Note that diablo now has a reader part, since version 1.15. Changes: The reader has dreader.hosts replaced with dreader.access. Many new authentication options and capabilities have been added. The server allows dnewslink to handle 'resend later' responses more elegantly. It uses 431 (resend later) when it gets a precommit hit, rather than rejecting. Added option to log incoming articles to a file. Enhanced general logging and copious transaction logging to syslog's LOG_DEBUG.
About: id3lib is an open-source, cross-platform software development library for reading, writing, and manipulating meta-information in digital audio files. Currently id3lib supports reading and writing of ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, as well as reading of Lyrics3, Lyrics3 v2.00, and MusicMatch tags. id3lib is written in C++, but provides both C and COM interfaces to the library. Changes: Fixed windows project files so that they all work correctly with new release, added a simple VB app to test id3lib using id3com.dll, added better implementation of PRIV (Private) frame, fixed padding logic, and a new "Spec Versioning" system is under the hood with minor interface changes.
About: smtm (Show Me The Money) is a Perl/Tk ticker, profit/loss calculator, and chart tool. It can display up to ten fields per share, among them company name, price, absolute and relative price changes as well as net wealth change (if the number of shares held is supplied). Other assets such as options, mutual funds, currencies are also supported. Foreign stocks are treated via cross-currency pairs that translate into domestic units. Charts can be launched with one click, and all the charts available at Yahoo!, including all of the advanced moving average and technical analysis features, can be displayed. Stocks can be added and deleted, and the selection can be stored. smtm has been used with US, Canadian, European, Asian, Australian/New Zealand, and South American stocks. Firewalls are fully supported, including user/password support. Changes: The version has more robust splitting of .csv input data. UK shares again use UK server which serves more details. Australian shares now show charts. It also provides a default TZ entry under Windows.
About: vgrabbj grabs a frame from the videodevice and writes it as a JPG/PNG to stdout or a file, which makes it ideal for a Web cam. It supports timestamping, can run as daemon, and shows the current settings of a video device. Changes: First public release.
About: phpftp is a simple Web-based FTP client written in PHP which offers directory navigation, file transfers, directory creation, etc. Changes: In this version the file sizes are now shown, a mkdir function was added, and a few minor bugs were fixed.
About: rp-pppoe is a PPPoE client and server suite for Linux. It is fully RFC-compliant and supports cookies, relay-IDs, and multiple simultaneous PPPoE discovery phases. It is cleanly coded and fairly efficient, and supports kernel-mode PPPoE on Linux 2.4 and 2.6. Changes: Support added for demand-connecting for users whose ISP's charge based on connect time. The pppoe client now sends a PADT frame if connection is terminated. Improved signal-handling, minor improvements and bug-fixes included.
About: Network UPS Tools is an extremely powerful and versatile client/server based approach to UPS monitoring. Products from a wide range of vendors (APC, Belkin, Best Power, MGE, Tripp-Lite, etc.) are supported. A shared UPS can be monitored by one host, notifcations being sent to the other hosts via authenticated TCP connections. A Web interface is available, as is a Windows client. Changes: Several new features were added, and a bug was fixed.
About: Sweep is an audio editor and live playback tool. It supports many music and voice formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex, and MP3, with multichannel editing and LADSPA effects plugins. Inside lives a pesky little virtual stylus called Scrubby who enjoys mixing around in your files. Changes: There have been interface changes on toolbox and play/stop buttons in each sample view. A bug was fixed relating to closing the last view of a sample whilst looping. Debian packages are now available.
About: phpWebLog is a Web-based news management system written in PHP. It uses a MySQL database. All the content, including multiple design layouts, themes, and languages can be edited/deleted through a user-friendly administration mode. It supports the importing and exporting of headlines from other sites via Netscape's RSS/RDF format. It also supports story moderation, an expandable links manager, threaded comments, and it allows site owners to expand their site by creating static pages from the administration page. Changes: Initial freshmeat announcement.
About: gruftistats is a program to generate a Web page of statistics and amusing facts about an IRC channel from a set of log files. Changes: Bugfixes and xchat support.
About: gbrctl is a GNOME utility to configure the Linux Ethernet Bridging code as found in Linux kernels version 2.3.47 and higher, and patched 2.2.x kernels. It features fast and easy bridge and port editing and a stack window, displaying images of your active bridges with 'LEDs' displaying the current port statuses. Changes: A stack window and several bugfixes/improvements.
About: Xdialog is designed to be a drop-in replacement for the dialog and cdialog programs. It converts any terminal-based program into a program with an X interface. The dialogs are easier to see and use, and Xdialog adds more functionality such as a help button and box, a treeview, an editbox, file and directory selectors, a range box, and a calendar. It uses GTK+, and will match your desktop theme. Changes: A fix for a timeout routines-related bug that sometimes caused a segfault, new editbox and range widgets, a "--fixed-font" transient option, new "--version" special option, returning exit code 255 when closing a widget (from the window manager) and when an error occurs, display of the Xdialog usage into a textbox, some more code cleanup, some cosmetic changes to the "yesno" and "gauge" widgets, and some more improvements to the samples scripts.
About: Xmms_sndfile is an input plugin for XMMS. Using xmms_sndfile extends the capabilities of XMMS to open and play any file which can be opened and read by libsndfile, including WAV, AIFF, AU, and SVX files and many compressed version of these file formats. Changes: First public release.
About: G27 gigs allows local musicians and bands to easily maintain a list of their gigs through their Web browser. It currently shows all upcoming gigs and allows visitors to the Web site to bring up a list of gigs by band/musician or by venue, and detailed information about the artist, venue, and a particular gig. Changes: A complete re-write, with re-arranged database tables, config options in settings.php, and functionality with Win/IIS/ODBC and *nix/Apache/MySQL. Note: this is not compatible with the initial release.
