About: Zircon is a feature rich IRC client written in the tcl/tk programming language. It provides an easy to use GUI for IRC and is highly configurable. Zircon will run on any system that has a tcl/tk interpeter (i.e. MacOS and Windows as well as UNIX) Changes: Various bugfixes and small enhancements.
About: setv4l is a simple command line tool for changing the picture settings of a video4linux device. It was written for managing a remote webcam. Changes: A 5-second retry for busy devices and removal of some useless includes.
About: GNU Make examines the timestamps on a set of interdependent files, and, if necessary, issues commands to bring them up-to-date. The user creates a makefile describing the files, their relationships, and the commands to run. Most often make is used to rebuild libraries and programs when their sources are changed, but it can be used for any situation where one set of files needs to be generated from another set. Changes: Various bugfixes, enhancements, and documention updates.
About: tgif is a vector-based drawing tool, with the additional benefit of being sort of a web-browser. That is, you can fetch drawings from a web server with it, and you can make objects in your picture into hotlinks to other parts of the drawing, or to other drawings accessible via HTTP. Changes: Fixes for bugs with printing black and white PS file with UseGrayScale enabled, JoinPoly(), text objects that are rotated 90 degrees are not exported in PS files, and a new X default (Tgif.AutoWrapMenubar) so that the menubar can automatically wrap around.
About: Blackarts is a tool for creating web based documentation repositories from interesting information that shows up in email. It was designed to solve the problem whereby a company or association gathers important documentation in email conversations that never gets recorded in a way that is easily accessible later. Blackarts creates mail gateways to multiple document repositories that have tables of contents, sections and section crosslinking. Changes: Fixes for modtime and createtime tables of contents, which were creating bad links.
About: gretl is an open-source econometrics package, designed for statistical modeling in economics. It comprises a shared library, a command-line client, and a GUI client written using GTK+ (1.2 or 2.0). It includes GNOME support. Changes: Many bugfixes, enhancements, and new commands, and decent Makefiles and use of GNU autoconf.
About: Tk Commander is yet another Norton Commander clone written in TCL/Tk. Changes: Archive management and creation (tar, tgz, gz, bz2, zip), file search mode, a new "HotDir" menu editor to classify you HotDirs, new keyboard shorcuts (see reference.txt), file sorting order according to name, size, extension, or date, correct copying of file attributes, file permissions management, a fix for the "add to start menu" function, new detailed "File Information" and "remove core" functions, a simple image viewer with F3 (not all images types), and some minor new features/bugfixes.
About: The GIMP Imagemap plug-in enables The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) to create clickable imagemaps in CSIM, CERN or NCSA format. Changes: A fix for a nasty bug with an uninitialized variable, removal of a few compilation warnings, and restored functionality with Gimp 1.0.4.
About: The XTL (Externalization Template Library) is a C++ library for reading/writing structured data to/from an external (platform independent) representation. Besides the usual C data types it also supports C++ constructs, such as pointers to base classes and template types (namely STL containers). It can read/write XDR and CORBA CDR formats. The API is somewhat modeled on the original XDR library by Sun, however, heavy usage of templates and inline functions makes it faster, simpler and type-safe. Changes: Lots of portability-related changes (Alpha, MIPS, Win), a general cleanup, and an automatic memory management buffer.
About: PgAccess is a Tcl/Tk frontend for PostgreSQL. It allows creation/modification of database, tables, queries, reports, scripts, in a way similar to the Windows-based db client of the same name. Changes: A fix for an ugly bug in the forms, query opening procedure.
About: Checkaliases reads a sendmail alias file, then fully expands all files, included files, program calls, etc., and validates that they are all deliverable addresses. The included newaliases.el makes editing and checking an aliases file with GNU Emacs easier. Changes: Fixes for some bugs in whitespace handling.
About: SourceForge is an online Web application to assist in the development of Open Source Software by offering free hosting. It currently includes Bugtracking, Project Management, Forums, Mailing Lists, Surveys, Software Map, File Releases, Top Projects, Site Docs, Project News, Site News, Snippet Library, Registration System, and Individual Account Maintenence. Changes: A new Support Manager and Help Wanted System, data extraction in all modules, TROVE catorgization, a Download Stats rewrite, eval() security fixes, custom Bug/Support categories, ability to remove yourself from project, bundles of code cleanups, navigation updates, hooks for the sitewide help system, and other fixes too numerous to list.
About: xzgv is a GTK+/Imlib-based picture viewer for X, which supports most popular image formats. It provides a thumbnail-based file selector, and allows panning and fit-to-window methods of viewing. It has mouse support as well, but can be used solely from the keyboard. Changes: Some minor bugfixes and a brightness/contrast switch.
About: WCD is a directory changer for DOS and Unix. Another NCD (Norton Change Directory) clone. This program jumps to a (sub)directory anywhere in the directory-tree. The directory to jump to can be given by only the first characters or an expression with wildcards. Changes: An optional ncurse- based interface which requires less keystrokes.
About: EasyTAG is a utility for viewing and editing tags for MP3, MP2, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, Speex, MP4/AAC, MusePack, Monkey's Audio, and WavPack files. It features a simple and attractive GTK+ interface. Changes: Initial freshmeat announcement; a new menu bar, support for ID3v1.1, a pre-version of scanning (auto completion of fields), and an indicator of position in list of scanned files.
About: Sablotron is an XML toolkit which implements XSLT, DOM, and XPath. Sablotron is written in C++, and it can be used from C, Perl, Python, PHP, ObjectPascal, and via a command line interface. It supports the XSLT 1.0, XPath 1.0, and DOM Level 2 W3C specifications. It is designed to be as compact and portable as possible, and is maintained as an Open Source project by Ginger Alliance. Changes: First public release.
About: ScanErrLog is a Python module that allows you to parse Apache error_log files and present their data in decreasing order of occurences of error messages. This is particularly useful if you want to quickly solve the most annoying problems Web visitors encounter on your site. You can use it directly from the command line, import it into another Python program and use the classes it defines, or use it as a CGI script. You can produce reports in HTML, PDF, XML, or Plain Text formats. Changes: ScanErrLog now only keeps "normal" lines, and displays at the end the number of skipped lines, and displays its documentation if you don't pass any argument on its command line or redirect its standard input.
About: Mass Rename is a simple pair of shell scripts which make it easier to move, rename, or copy multiple files at once. It is intended mainly as an automatic and simple way to rename multiple files with a customizable prefix and a progressive number. It is also possible to modify the rename format simply by editing one of the scripts. It is easy, complete, and efficient, and was written only in sh code. Changes: First release.
About: GateD is a router which supports most common Unicast routing protocols, including RIP, OSPF, and Router Discovery. The ipv6 version also supports RIPng and BGP-4+. Changes: Initial freshmeat announcement; auto-configuration, initial support for Linux 2.2.x kernels, SNMP SMUX, gii, better interface support, and support for IP tunnels.
About: pdf2html converts one PDF into a series of ready-to-use HTML pages with PNG images of individual pages. It runs GhostScript at high resolution and processes the output into low-res, 8-bit grayscale PNG's, using 17x15 times subsampling to achieve exactly 256 levels of gray. It is intended to convert PDF for online Web browsing where time is not critical but quality is desired. A special utility to print the content on a Epson-compatible 9-pin printer is also included (with 12 possible quality/speed tradeoffs). Changes: Initial release.
About: Half-Life Admin MOD is a plugin module to any Half-life mod that adds admin commands and user levels. You no longer have to risk giving out rcon access. It is very flexible to configure, supports reserving nicknames/playerslots on servers, and offers public kick and map voting. Changes: This release adds support for firearms rc1 and goldeneye b1.1 and fixes a couple of bugs in the voting code.
About: METAGRAF is a graphical editor for creating figures in MetaPost. It is currently able to draw any kind of figure in b/w or color. METAGRAF outputs a MetaPost file which can then be run through MetaPost by itself or using TeX. The program is written in Java and is thus platform-independent. Changes: METAGRAF-3D is the sibling of METAGRAF-2D or simply METAGRAF, with extremely sophisticated possibilities. All kinds off transformations are allowed and easy to do. New Objects have been added, such as the "close spline" with 8 points of control and the new concept of a Circle constituted by four Bezier curves. All these figures can be rotated trough any one of the three Cartesian axis. Shearing and scaling are facilities at hand. Now the use of LaTeX instead of plain TeX is allowed. The new package includes scripts to simplify the work, and the new pop-up menus are easy to use.
About: Mustajuuri is plugin-based real-time audio/MIDI signal processing software for *NIX. It currently runs on Linux and IRIX. It is in development phase and nearing useful. Changes: Bug fixes, architectural changes, new bugs, new plugins, and a link to the "virtual reality assembler" homepage.
About: Belt is a foldable menubar that works somewhat like the "belt" found on the Mac. It reads a simple configuration files, uses XPMs for the buttons, and has a lot of options. While not as advanced as the similar applications found in GNOME or KDE, it is rather lightweight and intended primarily for use with windowmanagers that don't have easy dynamic configuration options, like wm2 for example. Changes: Initial public release.
About: GtkHx is a GTK+ version of Hx, a UNIX Hotline client. Changes: Fixes for a major bookmark bug and some userlist bugs, cleanups to the users_window (which is completely resizable), new tooltips in the buttons, a private chat button (not functional yet), saving of window sizes/positions, saving of Queue Download and Show Message at Back (unimplemented), completely redone prefs file code, and some minor code cleanup.

About: UDB consists of a library and some simple utilities for creating and maintaining a persistant shared-memory database associating users with IP addresses, or users with established TCP connections. The library is meant for proxies (e.g. HTTP filters or IRC proxies) which could benefit from knowing what user to associate with a dynamic IP address, or would need to pass user information on to a modified ident daemon. Changes: An easily configurable base IPC key, improved documentation and startup scripts, the RPM correctly calls ldconfig, and a patch for oidentd (added to the homepage).
About: Gabble is a BLADE random ads/image object. It is compatible with GNOME WebAds. Changes: A bug with nonlinear advertisement numbers was fixed and support for using Gabble as a random image object was added.
About: Asterisk is a hybrid TDM and packet voice PBX (Private Branch eXchange) and IVR platform with ACD functionality. It acts as middleware between the Internet (IAX, SIP, MGCP, Skinny, H.323), telephony channels (like Zaptel, T1, PRI, E1, FXO, FXS, VoIP, VoFR, ISDN, modems, Internet Phone Jack, etc.), and applications (like voice-mail, conferencing, directories, MP3 players, intercoms, etc.). It has many advanced features such as a codec translation API. The base distribution includes several channel backends, as well as applications. However, the beauty of Asterisk is its ability to be extended using its APIs, dynamic module loader, and AGI scripting interface. End users can even write their own applications that run on the system in C or any scripting language of their choice.
About: mp3_check helps to identify in explicit detail MP3s that do not correctly follow the MP3 format. It also looks for invalid frame headers, missing frames, etc., and generates useful statistics. This can be especially important when building an archive, and you want high quality MP3s. Changes: Some speed improvements have been made.
About: jbofihe (or more correctly jbofi'e) is a parser for checking the grammatical correctness of Lojban text. It also provides approximate translations of Lojban into English. (Lojban is a constructed human language with the interesting property that its grammar can be cast into a form that Bison can parse.) The package includes cmafi'e (a smaller version without grammar checking), and a program to aid lujvo (compound word) construction. Changes: Version 0.31 adds a pattern matching engine to translate common lujvo prefix/suffix patterns. Text block output mode was also added.
About: Big Brother is a combination of monitoring methods. Unlike SNMP where information is just collected and devices polled, Big Brother is designed in such a way that each local system broadcasts its own information to a central location. Simultaneously, Big Brother also polls all networked systems from a central location. This creates a highly efficient and redundant method for proactive network monitoring. Changes: The major security upgrades are a fixed buffer overflow exploit and changed security file handling. Other features include introducing failover mode for BBPAGER and BBNET. Fixed misc bugs including rogue temporary files, proper status color match, neon yellow bar graph in history, erroneous purple reports.
About: srm (secure rm) is a command-line compatible rm(1) which destroys file contents before unlinking. The goal is to provide drop in security for users who wish to prevent command line recovery of deleted information, even if the machine is compromised. Changes: Changes from the last freshmeat announcement include support for platforms without /dev/urandom, a new command line option --simple(-s) to only overwrite once, support for the BSD file flags, better linux fs support, and several bug squashes. The 0.9.x series is reasonably well shaken down, and should become a stable 1.0 release soon.
About: The OpenSLP project is an effort to develop an open-source implementation of Service Location Protocol (RFC 2608) suitable for commercial and non-commercial application. Changes: This is the first OpenSLP development release.
About: Pcom is a PHP-driven webtelnet, that is, a web interface to execute shell commands or external programs on a server without telnet access. Changes: Initial release.
About: MP3-Database is a tool to organize your MP3 collection. If you insert a CD with MP3 files in your CDROM drive, MP3DB can read all ID3 tags of the MP3 files. With this information MP3DB creates a database which can be searched for a specific song, artist, or CD. A GUI makes it easy to use the program. Any title found in the database can easily be added to a playlist or can instantly be played by XMMS. Changes: The CD list shows CDs in alphabetical order now, and each CD appears only one time. When searching for an artist or CD the results will now be displayed in alphabetical order. Each item now appears only once in the search list, and a doubleclick on a CD or artist will display all titles of the CD or artist. The graphical user interface was generally improved.
About: Qps is a visual process manager, an X11 version of "top" or "ps" that displays processes in a window and lets you sort and manipulate them. It displays some general system information, and many details about current processes (such as the TCP/UDP sockets in use by a process). Qps runs on Linux and Solaris. Changes: A fix for a silly startup bug, works on recent (2.3.99preX) Linux kernels, and some default handy commands (gdb and strace/truss).
