About: Sendmail is a Mail Transfer Agent, which is the program that moves mail from one machine to another. Sendmail implements a general internetwork mail routing facility, featuring aliasing and forwarding, automatic routing to network gateways, and flexible configuration. Changes: A workaround for a broken Linux setuid() implementation (a normal user process has the ability to subvert the setuid() call such that it is impossible for a root process to drop its privileges); more vigilance around set*uid(), setgid(), setgroups(), initgroups(), and chroot() calls.
About: Figaro's Password Manager (FPM) is a GNOME application that allows you to securely store your passwords, which are encrypted with the blowfish algorithm. It allows you to copy passwords or usernames to the clipboard or primary selection. If a password is for a Web site, FPM can keep track of the URLs of your login screens and can automatically launch your browser. You can also teach FPM to launch other applications. FPM can sort your passwords into categories. Finally, it has a password generator that can help you choose good passwords. Changes: A new launcher feature which allows you to teach FPM how to launch different programs, a default category, prompts to save when you create a new password, and several minor bugfixes.
About: Twin is a text-mode window environment. It turns a text terminal into a X11-style display with window manager, terminal windows, and can also serve as display for remote applications. Each terminal window provides the functions of a text-mode Linux console. Twin runs on X11, libggi, itself, the Linux console, and any termcap/ncurses-compatible tty. It supports multiple simultaneous displays, and can attach/detach each display on the fly. Changes: Some bugfixes including mouse redrawing problems on ttys, use of compressed connections for twdisplay and twattach, new generic display option 'noinput', new 'make menuconfig' featuring dialog interface, completely rewritten cut-and-paste code, and addition of cut-and-paste support to '-hw=twin' and twdisplay.
About: Xnetload displays packet traffic and uptime in an X window. It requires the /proc file system. xnetload works with 2.2 kernels, where it will display bytes/s instead of packets/s. Changes: Maximum and total count, and some small bugfixes.
About: txt2pdf is flexible and powerful Perl tool to convert txt, text, textual reports, and spools into PDF (form, invoice, report, sale sheet). It can be used alone, or you can use it from other applications to convert your documents on the fly. Changes: Use of #!ENV#...#!/ENV# to specify environment variables in txt2pdf.cfg, and a fix for the link box algoritm with Courier font.
About: Glimmer is an all-purpose programmer's editor for Linux. Features include revert, find/replace, goto line, syntax highlighting, multiple-level undo/redo, tear-away windows, quick access popup menu, auto-indenting, Python scripting support, and many other standard editor features. Changes: A segfault which occurred when "Settings->Preferences" was invoked has been fixed.
About: GuestCall 2000 is a guest book for Web sites which features HTML filtering that prevents users from adding formatting, JavaScript, and other potentially annoying code to a posting. It can also automatically divide large numbers of postings onto multiple pages to keep load times short even on busy sites. GuestCall has many other features including user logging, keyword filtering, Web-based message removal, and customizable headers and footers. Finally, GuestCall is extremely compact: just one Perl script and one data file. Changes: Nearly every function has been overhauled, and many new functions have been added. These new features include HTML and keyword filtering, site integration, file locking, improved data file format, and Web-based message clearing. Current users should upgrade to protect against HTML and JavaScript code being placed in their guest book.
About: KDVD is a DVD player based on the Qt, KDE, and libmpeg2 libraries. Changes: Initial release.
About: phpWebLog is a Web-based news management system written in PHP. It uses a MySQL database. All the content, including multiple design layouts, themes, and languages can be edited/deleted through a user-friendly administration mode. It supports the importing and exporting of headlines from other sites via Netscape's RSS/RDF format. It also supports story moderation, an expandable links manager, threaded comments, and it allows site owners to expand their site by creating static pages from the administration page. Changes: A rewritten admin section, a new topics manager, better search capabilities, an RSS/RDF backend, virtual user profiles, story preview mode, and many changes and bugfixes.
About: vrrpd is an implementation of VRRPv2 as specified in rfc2338. It run in userspace for linux. In short, VRRP is a protocol which elects a master server on a LAN. If the master fails, a backup server takes over. Changes: This release adds support for multiple virtual groups per interface and fixes minor compilation problems for versions of gblic less than or equal to 2.1.1.
About: SCREEM is a tag-based Web page editor which aims not only to aid in creating Web pages, but also to provide useful site maintainance facilities, including automatic link updating and site upload facilities. SCREEM has more than just the usual HTML tags, with features for including Javascript, PHP, cascading style sheets, etc within your site. Changes: A huge memory leak was fixed, and the line and column position of the cursor is now displayed.

About: genethumb is an unconfigurable, quick, and dirty shell script aimed at generating HTML indexes with thumbnails from a directory full of images.
About: httptype reads a list of http hosts and optionally the port number for each of these. It queries each host, displaying the type of HTTP server running on that host, if any. It reads the http_proxy and no_proxy environment variables to determine whether to use a proxy or not. These options may also be specified through the command line. Changes: --showreal option to display the real hostname has been added. This is useful if you use the canonical name or an alias. --showip option to display the IP address of the host has also been added.
About: Ming is a library for writing SWF (Flash) format files. It includes high-level functions which abstract away mundane specifics of the file format and PHP (and now Python/Zope, Ruby, and c++) module code which wraps the library into handy objects. Changes: First public release
About: XMail is an Internet and intranet mail server featuring an ESMTP server, POP3 server, finger server, TLS support for SMTP and POP3 (both server and client side), multiple domains, no need for users to have a real system account, SMTP relay checking, DNS based maps check, custom (IP based and address based) spam protection, SMTP authentication (PLAIN LOGIN CRAM-MD5 POP3-before-SMTP and custom), a POP3 account synchronizer with external POP3 accounts, account aliases, domain aliases, custom mail processing, direct mail files delivery, custom mail filters, mailing lists, remote administration, custom mail exchangers, logging, and multi-platform code. Changes: Fixed a SERIOUS bug in custom (external) POP3 authentication procedures: it always gave auth. APOP POP3 authentication has been added to POP3 server as long as to PSYNC server (POP3 client). PSYNC server configuration file is changed to enable APOP authentication. The command "poplnkadd" of CTRL server has been extended to include another parameter that stores the authentication method to be used.
About: Synaesthesia is an eyecandy program that represents music graphically in real time as coruscating fields of fog and glowing lines. It is intended as a visual accompaniment to music. Its display combines information about the frequency, location and diffuseness of sound. It can take input from CD, line, piped from another program, or from EsounD. It also functions as a CD player. Changes: Now uses autoconf, EsounD support added, several new command line options, various minor bug fixes
About: glade-- (glademm) is a C++ backend for glade, the GUI designer for Gnome/GTK+. It creates C++ source from XML. Changes: WidgetMap.hh was missing and has now been added. Dialogs fixed. Classes now contain pointers to their widgets. Bumped version to corresponding version of glade.
About: Thorn is a UML modeling tool written in Java. It uses XML to save the models you create. Its purpose is to give the open source world a good modeling tool to help develop and manage the increasingly sophisticated development efforts of the open source community. Changes: Allows the user to drag use cases from the project tree and drop them onto the use Case Diagram. Use Case items can then be moved on the diagram and resized as desired.
About: xIrc is a QT based IRC client featuring individual windows for each conversation, channel member lists, full DCC chat capability, DCC file get and send capability, a subset of the standard IrcII commands, many with simplified interfaces, automatic ban mask generation for easy and reliable banning, notification lists, ignore lists, mIrc colors, optional CTCP2 protocol (except fonts), and full documentaion in ASCII and PostScript. Changes: Minor bug fixes.
About: Wireshark (formerly Ethereal) is a network protocol analyzer, or "packet sniffer", that lets you capture and interactively browse the contents of network frames. The goal of the project is to create a commercial-quality packet analyzer for Unix, and the most useful packet analyzer on any platform. Changes: Ethereal can now read the compressed Sniffer file format. The dissectors for RTP, IP, ISAKMP, ICMP, SMB, SMB-PIPE, VTP, SNMPv3, Ethernet, GRE, EIGRP, DHCP, IPX, X.25, RSVP, and L2TP have been updated, and Mobile IP and COPS have been added. The dissector API has changed dramatically to provide a more error-free and robust program, although the conversion of dissectors to this new API is still underway.
About: GtkHx is a GTK+ version of Hx, a UNIX Hotline client. Changes: Fixed drag and drop bug, fixed invitation dialog, added ban pixmap, added a pixmap for use in GNOME panel and such, improved UI in users window, added ability to choose icon paths, added BFI support, added documentation, added file uploads, fixed file download button, fixed tasks window and files window resize, touched up pixmaps, added sounds, added user editor, improved file browsing, new timer code, working downloads, major code cleanup, and added an auto-reply feature.
About: encrypt turns any plaintext word into an encrypted string in a variety of ways, including reading a random word from a file. It can be useful for creating passwords for .htpasswd files for webservers. It's also very useful for generating random passwords out of a cronjob. Changes: Makefile typo fix, -F option to allow reading cleartext passwords from one file and outputting the encrypted form to another file, documentation updates and some code formatting changes.
About: GObject Builder (GOB) is a simple preprocessor for easily creating GObjects (glib objects). It reads a class description file with inline C code and produces .c and .h object files for you. It allows you to easily use most of the features of the GObject system and avoids typos by reducing the amount of code needed. In general, the amount of code is about the same as for OO languages such as Java or C++, but you still have to only use C and you get all the power of the GObject system. Changes: Fixes for documentation and the behaviour of the private header switches.
About: The CDDB/CDDB_get Perl module gets the CDDB info for an audio CD. The included script was intended as a demo for CDDB_get, but over time it has gained powerful features like the ability to write to a database, offline mode, HTTP mode (including proxy), saving in standard XMCD format, and writing 'lame' commands. Changes: An offline mode (try cddb.pl -h).
About: dspspy is a sound recording utility for spyíng. dspspy waits until a sound is detected and then it records it to a unique file. dspspy records sounds from the microphone to raw sound files. This can be used as a surveillance system. Changes: A new utility for calibrating the mic threshold.
About: Bastille Unix (formerly Bastille Linux) aims to be the most comprehensive, flexible, and educational Security Hardening Program for Red Hat (Fedora Core, Enterprise Linux, and original Red Hat), SuSE, Gentoo, Mandrake, and Debian Linux, as well as HP-UX and Mac OS X. Virtually every task it performs is optional, providing immense flexibility. It educates the installing admin regarding the topic at hand before asking any question. The interactive nature allows the program to be more thorough when securing, while the educational component produces an admin who is less likely to compromise the increased security. Changes: A stable release that runs on non-virgin systems and uses a much smarter architecture.

About: The Cyrus IMAP server is generally intended to be run on sealed systems, where normal users are not permitted to log in. The mailbox database is stored in parts of the filesystem that are private to Cyrus. All user access to mail is through the IMAP, POP3, or KPOP protocols. The private mailbox database design gives the server large advantages in efficiency, scalability, and administratability. Multiple concurrent read/write connections to the same mailbox are permitted. The server supports access control lists on mailboxes and storage quotas on mailbox hierarchies, multiple SASL mechanisms, and the Sieve mail filtering language. Changes: Many bug & build fixes, SORT/THREAD support, and some documentation improvements.
About: Calc is arbitrary precision arithmetic system that uses a C-like language. It's useful as a calculator, an algorithm prototype, and as a mathematical research tool. More importantly, calc provides a machine-independent means of computation. Calc comes with a rich set of builtin mathematical and programmatic functions. Changes: Fixes for some minor portability issues reported by users on Ultrix and NetBSD, additional minor bugfixes, and updates to email addresses for the calc mailing list and bug reporting in the documentation.
About: IMHO-DE is a module to enable German in IMHO v.0.97+, the Webmailinterface for Roxen Webserver. Changes: Functionality with IMHO v.0.98, and a fix for the bug with the German umlaut.
