About: ePortal is an integration of Expresso, Struts and Tiles with an implementation of the Java Portlet Specfication (JSR 168). With this integration the community software including eForum and eContent (a Web content management solution) and other Jcorporate components including ePoll, eFAQ, and eHelpdesk are available in a portal. Changes: A ready-to-install bundle of Apache Jetspeed (including all required external libraries), and commercial support to assist users with the installation, configuration, and deployment of Jetspeed.
About: Shadowlands Forum is a flexible, friendly, robust chatroom reachable via any telnet client. It uses UNIX username/password for authentication, and includes the authlocal module to authenticate quickly from localhost. Changes: A bugfix in whisperban, the ability to turn shadow passwords on/off without requiring a recompile, and a new !lock command by which you can make your view of Forum read-only.
About: CompuPic is an interactive multimedia file manager and manipulation program which allows you to efficiently view, manage, catalog, thumbnail, and convert over 30 graphics formats. CompuPic is the first consumer-oriented graphics software to be ported to Linux from Windows. Changes: Fixes for Maxi Show and Slide Show features and nearly all crashes related to BSD or SVR4 (Solaris/SCO) platforms.
About: Xscorch is a clone of the classic DOS game "Scorched Earth". The basic goal is to annihilate enemy tanks using overpowered guns. Players can purchase weapons and accessories to defend their tank, and they can attack enemy tanks by adjusting the angle of the tank's turret and the firing power. Xscorch supports gameplay with humans and computer AIs, and network gameplay is in development. Changes: This release features Sequential mode, the Triple Turret accessory, and randomized player locations. There were also several bug fixes.
About: GTC is a game programming library for Linux. Rendering is done via a generic client. Multiple clients may connect to a game server, which will automatically keep the 3D scene graph of all clients in sync with the copy on the server. A demonstration space shooter is included. The shooter is written in Python and has less than 200 lines of code. Changes: The Python bindings are now usable.
About: The main goal of the Linux Trustees project is to create an advanced permission management system for Linux. The solution proposed is mainly inspired by the approach taken by Novell Netware and the Java security API. Special objects (called trustees) can be bound to every file or directory. The trustee object can be used to ensure that access to a file, directory, or directory with subdirectories is granted (or denied) to a certain user or group (or all except user or group). Trustees are like POSIX ACLs, but trustee objects can affect entire subdirectory trees, while ACLs a single file. Trustees works with the 2.6 Linux kernel. Changes: Support was added for Linux 2.4.0-test2.
About: Thatware is a Slash lookalike. It is a Web-based news publishing and discussion backend written in PHP that can handle threaded discussions with a minimum of configuration and day-to-day management. It includes Web-based administration, polls, access statistics, user customizable boxes, a themes manager for registered users, the ability to edit or delete stories, a moderation system, search engine, backend/headlines generation (WAP and RSS/RDF format), and support for 7 languages. Changes: Absolute HTTP redirection for login on user.php3 was removed.
About: dtd2latex is a quick hack which converts a commented XML DTD into LaTeX source for printing. Changes: Initial release.
About: ROBODoc is an API documentation tool. It extracts specially-formated comment headers from a source file and puts them in a separate file. ROBODoc allows you to include the program documentation in the source code and avoid having to maintain two separate documents. ROBODoc can format the documentation in HTML, LaTeX, RTF, XML DocBook, or ASCII format. It is even possible to include parts of the source code. It works with Assembler, C, C++, Java, Perl, LISP, Occam, Tcl/Tk, Pascal, Fortran, shell scripts, HTML, and COBOL; basically any language that supports comments. Changes: Autoconfiguration was added. The manual was improved. An example makefile is included that shows how to automatically generate documentation in any of the four supported formats. Support for mailto links was added. The algorithm to find crosslinks was improved.
About: dircproxy is an IRC proxy server ("bouncer") designed for people who use IRC from lots of different workstations or clients, but wish to remain connected and see what they missed while they were away. You connect to IRC through dircproxy, and it keeps you connected to the server, even after you detach your client from it. While you're detached, it logs channel and private messages as well as important events, and when you reattach it'll download those logs to you using ordinary IRC protocol. Changes: A few minor bug fixes were made, one relating to the IRCnet "Juped" numeric. The location of the configuration files was also changed to be more intuitive and sensible.
About: VuohiMatik is a BBS software designed with large BBS systems in mind. It has filearea operations which work well on tens of thousands of files online, giving the end-user a uniform interface to perform quick selections and searches on the fileareas using various search conditions. Otherwise, it provides similar capabilities to AmiExpress and DayDream. Changes: Bug fixes were made. The distribution structure has changed to the GNU automake+autoconf style, allowing easier package install, uninstall, and maintenance.
About: gswitchit is a simple keyboard state indicator for the GNOME panel. It supports up to 4 keyboard groups and has customizable images for each group. Changes: Beeping can now be turned off. Secondary layouts are now supported.
About: Lout is a document formatting system which reads a high-level description of a document similar in style to LaTeX and produces a PostScript file which can be printed on most laser printers and graphic display devices. Plain text and PDF output are also available. Lout is inherently multilingual and adding new languages is easy. Changes: New features include cross links (pdfmark), and a @Python symbol for typesetting Python programs using prg2lout. Bug fixes were made for composite characters (e.g. latin2), and for running headers in tables.
About: TkGate is an event-driven digital circuit simulator with a TCL/Tk-based graphical editor. It supports a wide range of primitive circuit elements and user-defined modules for hierarchical design. The distribution comes with a number of tutorial and example circuits which can be loaded through the "Help" menu, and the example circuits include a simple CPU, programmed to run the Animals game. TkGate has multi-lingual support for English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Welsh, and Catalan. Changes: Support was added for multiple gate 'technologies' and per-gate delay specification. Imported library modules are now marked as read-only to prevent accidental editing. An explicit "Claim" command was added to convert imported library modules to user modules. Numerous bug fixes were made for display problems, "Edit Interface" problems, empty net name problems, and an intermittent simulator crash problem.
About: Remind is a full-featured calendar/reminder program featuring sophisticated date calculation, moon phases, sunrise/sunset, Hebrew calendar, alarms, PostScript output, an X front-end, multilingual messages, and proper handling of holidays. It also includes scripts for making a nice WWW calendar server. Changes: A serious bug in which background reminders were not queued has been fixed. Minor fixes and enhancements were made to TkRemind and WWW back-end.
About: WebCalendar is a Web-based calendar application that can be configured as a single-user calendar, a multi-user calendar for groups of users, or as an event calendar viewable by visitors. WebCalendar requires a database such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, ODBC, or Interbase. Features include email reminders, iCal/vCal import/export, remote subscriptions for Sunbird or Apple iCal, LDAP and NIS support, and translations for 29 languages. Changes: Security issues with private events were fixed, as well as MSIE-related bugs. New additions include an export function for use with pilot-link, a French translation, a popup selection window for color preferences, a popup seleciton window for all date selections, and an improved UI. Weeks can now start with Monday instead of Sunday.
About: Sysmon is a network monitoring tool designed to provide high performance and accurate network monitoring. Currently supported tests include monitoring of SMTP, IMAP, HTTP, TCP, UDP, Radius, NNTP, and POP3 servers. It also includes the ability to ping hosts and routers, as well as the ability to perform SNMP queries and generate alerts based on those results. Sysmon has the ability to understand real network topologies, including the ability to monitor multiple paths and only report the actual device that is down instead of a router that is down, and all the hosts behind it. Changes: The man pages for the configuration file and daemon were updated. Some minor build issues were fixed.
About: PhpWiki is a WikiWikiWeb clone written in PHP. A Wiki is a Web site where anyone can edit or create the pages through the Web browser, with no authentication. PhpWiki works right out of the box with zero configuration, and comes with a set of default pages. It's useful for collaborating on documentation on a project, having freeform discussions, and easy editing and searching. Changes: This is a major revision from previous releases and is a milestone in the project's history. The database schema has radically changed. Templates have been added so it will be really easy to "theme" the look of your Wiki. Supported databases now include MySQL, Postgresql, and mSQL. The new linking scheme is implemented, and a new "info" link is on all pages for debugging.
About: pgpenvelope is an interface to help meld using Pine with GnuPG. It also includes procmail filtering mechanisms. Changes: A bug concerning keyring listings getting into messages was fixed, and a better output is left when a decryption is not confirmed.
About: Crystal Space is a free and portable 3D engine written in C++. It supports a large number of 3D features. Changes: New features include particle systems (rain, fire, fountains, etc.), procedural textures, hardware accelerated transforms (OpenGL), TrueType font support, and many more.
About: PerfGraph is a Web-based performance grapher. A collection server reads data from client systems, and stores the information in a postgres database. When pointing your browser to the Web server on the collection server, a Perl script reads data from the database, and creates graphical images on the fly. Currently, the collection server runs on Solaris. Client systems can be Solaris. Linux support is available, but is not yet integrated. Changes: Fixes for NT locale problems and reading data from a sar file, and no more negative numbers in cache graphs.
About: A C++ based API for 3D visualization or game projects. Contains support for 3d primitives, lighting, scene management, collision-detection, 3d file importers and many other features. Changes: This release includes real time shadows, OpenGL transformations, a new collision detection system, bug fixes, and better performance.
About: Dante is a free implementation of the proxy protocols SOCKS version 4 and SOCKS version 5 (RFC 1928). It can be used as a firewall between networks, controlling outgoing traffic. The package consists of two parts: a socks server and a proxy client that supports socks, and HTTP proxies. Commercial support is available. Changes: This version includes optimizations for libwrap users and bugfixes. It was also newly ported to HP-UX and AIX.
About: jEdit is an Open Source text editor written in Java. It has many useful features, such as syntax highlighting, bracket matching, regular expression searching, multiple file search and replace, folding, and keyboard macros. jEdit also includes a powerful plugin architecture that allows more than 80 plugins to be downloaded and installed from within the editor. Changes: VHDL syntax highlighting was added. A minor plugin API addition, documentation updates, and bug fixes were made.
About: Heirloom mailx (formerly known as "nail") is derived from Berkeley Mail and provides the functionality of the System V and POSIX mailx commands. Additional features include support for MIME, IMAP (including caching and disconnected use), POP3, SMTP, S/MIME, international character sets, maildir folders, message threading, powerful search methods, scoring, and a Bayesian junk mail filter. Mailx can be used as a mail batch language in nearly the same way as it is used interactively. It can thus act as a mailbox filter, can fetch mail from remote accounts, and can send files as attachments. Changes: This is a maintenance release.

About: Slackware is the longest-running distribution of the Linux operating system. Slackware offers a stable and secure version of Linux that is perfect for home, office, or educational use. Slackware is easy for beginners to install, but contains all the advanced features required by the experienced UNIX power-user. Changes: This release adds GNOME 1.2.1, KDE 1.91, kernel 2.2.16, the latest versions of sendmail, bind, etc., and many security fixes.
About: bvi is a display-oriented binary editor based on the vi texteditor. It uses commands similar to the commands of vi, with some changes and extensions dependent of their different tasks. Changes: A "bmore" program has been added. A mailing list is now available. Block Special files can be edited now. Files can be partially read, edited, and written.
About: Larbin is an HTTP Web crawler with an easy interface that runs under Linux. It can fetch more than 5 million pages a day on a standard PC (with a good network). Changes: Fix for a bug which caused larbin to crash after 2 days of work
About: Jetty is an Open Source HTTP Servlet Server written in Java. It is a full featured HTTP/1.1 server and a Servlet container. It is designed to be small, fast, embeddable and extensible. It supports HTTP/1.1, servlets 2.3, and JSP 1.2. Changes: Mapping of getContextPath, getServletPath and getInfo for the default "/" path have been fixed to conform to the 2.2 servlet specification.
About: capircvd is a voice/fax gateway. It receives fax (G3) and voice-calls using an ISDN-Bus, an AVM ISDN-Card (active or passive) and CAPI20 from isdn4linux, or AVM. It can be used on either P2P (with DDI) or P2M S0-bus. After reception, it can process files (send as mail) using an external handler (included). Changes: Signal handling changed. You can now use SIGHUP to reload configuration and SIGUSR1 to save capircvd.state. Debugging can be turned on in the configuration file. The external handler "capircvd.handler" now uses "real" message-ids. In previous versions all mails had the same id, thus appearing in one thread when using mailers like Messenger.
About: Xfce is an easy-to-use and easy-to-configure environment for X11 based on GTK2. A priority is adherence to standards, specifically those defined at freedesktop.org. Changes: Memory leaks fixed. Windows double-reparenting is back. 3.4.0 users are encouraged to upgrade to this version to avoid problems due the removal of windows double reparenting in 3.4.0 (for example, Java apps were impacted).
About: Ether 1394 is a kernel module which offers an easy way to use IEEE 1394 buses like an ethernet LAN on Linux systems. Changes: Ether 1394 now uses write split transactions. An attempt has been made to support SMP kernel.

About: rebot3.pl renames MP3 files that you have grabbed from audio CDs with the track name, number, album, and/or artist. It does so by using either a remote CDDB server or a local CDDB created by cd (and other) players like xmcd, kscd or xmms. With rebot3.pl you can also add or remove ID3 (version 1) tags to/from the MP3 files. Changes: This release adds remote CDDB support. Some internal redesign and a few minor changes have been done.
About: Bayonne is the telephony server of the GNU project. It offers a script-driven threaded multi-line state event telephony service on GNU/Linux, xBSD, and Microsoft Windows for building voice response systems, and uses telephony plugins for runtime driver configuration. It also features "TGI" for making Perl applications "telephony aware". It may be used to build telephony-based system administration, home automation, automated attendant, v-commerce, and voice messaging systems. Changes: A fix for segfaults that sometimes occured during startup. New reentrant functions used as needed for common library services such as strtok_r and localtime_r. Optional configure test for -lc_r.
