 OpenCA 0.2.0-patch4
 by N/A - Sat, Jul 8th 2000 19:09 UTC

About: The OpenCA Project is a collaborative effort to develop a robust, full-featured and Open Source out-of-the-box Certification Authority implementing the most used protocols with full-strength cryptography world-wide. OpenCA is based on many Open-Source Projects. Among the supported software is OpenLDAP, OpenSSL, Apache Project, Apache mod_ssl.

Changes: This release fixes some bugs and provides improvements in the installation script. 0.2.3-patch3 had a nasty bug while parsing for certificates' serial numbers.  Seattle Firewall 3.2
 by N/A - Sat, Jul 8th 2000 19:08 UTC

About: The Seattle Firewall is an ipchains firewall that supports IP masquerading and can be used on a standalone system, on a dedicated firewall system, or on a multi-use gateway/server. It supports VPN via IPIP tunnels, IPSec, and PPTP. It is easily configurable by editing configuration files, and can be extended without modifying the base product. It also includes realtime monitoring with an audible alarm that sounds when suspect packets are detected.

Changes: This update allows resticting access to servers based on client IP address, permits changing the default ruleset strength, includes the ability to alter the kernel's dynamic port range, provides for non-masqueraded local interfaces, correctly handles P-T-P devices in the "local" and "dmz" specifications, and supports running the Linux PPTP client on the firewall system.

 ROBODoc 3.2.2
 by N/A - Sat, Jul 8th 2000 19:03 UTC

About: ROBODoc is an API documentation tool. It extracts specially-formated comment headers from a source file and puts them in a separate file. ROBODoc allows you to include the program documentation in the source code and avoid having to maintain two separate documents. ROBODoc can format the documentation in HTML, LaTeX, RTF, XML DocBook, or ASCII format. It is even possible to include parts of the source code. It works with Assembler, C, C++, Java, Perl, LISP, Occam, Tcl/Tk, Pascal, Fortran, shell scripts, HTML, and COBOL; basically any language that supports comments.

Changes: Master index file generation for LaTeX output was added. An option was added to prevent the including of source items in the documentation. An option was added to set the title of the master index files. A section was added to the documentation that explains how robodoc can be used if your source code is located in several directories.

 larswm 4.2
 by N/A - Sat, Jul 8th 2000 05:25 UTC

About: larswm is a modified version of the 9wm window manager that adds virtual desktops, automatic window tiling, and many other features designed to make it a highly efficient user environment.  PeaGnut 0.0.5
 by N/A - Sat, Jul 8th 2000 04:44 UTC

About: PeaGnut is a Gnutella client which allows rewriting of requests, so that it acts as a proxy server for Gnutella clients. It is intended to be able to share files and rewrite downloads.

Changes: PeaGnut now implements the protocol mostly correctly, although there are probably still some bugs. It now uses (and leaks) conlist_iterator to make the process of going through the connection list much more stable. PUSH is nearly done, routing is basic at best, and flood protection/etc. is nonexistent.

 Snort 1.6.1
 by N/A - Sat, Jul 8th 2000 01:21 UTC

About: Snort is a lightweight network intrusion detection system, capable of performing real-time traffic analysis and packet logging on IP networks. It can perform protocol analysis, content searching/matching and can be used to detect a variety of attacks and probes, such as buffer overflows, stealth port scans, CGI attacks, SMB probes, OS fingerprinting attempts, and much more. Snort uses a flexible rule based language to describe traffic that it should collect or pass, and a modular detection engine. Snort has a real-time alerting capability, with alert mechanisms for syslog, a user specified file, a UNIX socket, or WinPopup messages to Windows clients using Samba's smbclient.

Changes: Two security fixes (specifically, a DoS condition in the ASCII packet logger and the tmp file bug in the SMB alerting code), a great deal of bugfixes and tweaks for a variety of platforms (especially Tru64 and Solaris), and a few major additions including an IP defragmentation plugin, updated and enhanced database logging, an enhanced rules library, and a new -O "IP address obfuscation switch".
