About: CoreLinux++ is an initiative to normalize methods and conventions for OOA/OOD/C++ development for Linux, materialized in a set of Open Source C++ class libraries to support common patterns and frameworks and exploit the C++ standards. Changes: Completion of the Semaphore requirement with the addition of EventSemaphoreGroup and EventSemaphore, and correction of a few compilation bugs.
About: crypt++.el is a package of Lisp functions that recognize automatically encrypted and encoded (i.e., compressed) files when they are first visited or written. The BUFFER corresponding to the file is decoded and/or decrypted before it is presented to the user. The file itself is unchanged on the disk. When the buffer is subsequently saved to disk, a hook function re-encodes the buffer before the actual disk write takes place. Changes: Initial freshmeat announcement; support for mailcrypt and PGP/PGP50/GPG.
About: PHP Weather makes it easy to show the current weather on your Web page. PHP Weather retrieves the latest METAR (weather) report and converts this format into both imperial and metric units, caches the data in a MySQL, PostgreSQL, or DBA database for fast retrieval, and makes it easily available in PHP scripts. You can display the data in several languages by using the included translations. Changes: Addition of preliminary WAP support, bugfixes related to the parsing of faulty METARs, and some comments that explain how to fix problems with them for the time being.
About: PHPDocumentor is a PHP script for creating javaDoc-style documentation from PHP code. It can document object-oriented and procedural code. It supports all javaDoc tags, including inline links, and also supports PHPdoc documentation in PEAR style. Changes: A Web interface has been added to allow more people to use phpDocumentor. Support for multiple files and directories has also been added, along with minor bugfixes.
About: Fresco (formerly Berlin) is an experimental windowing system which is a logical extension of the integrated layout and structured graphics model developed in InterViews and the original Fresco project. It makes heavy use of CORBA for transparent inter-process control, and utilizes a loadable module framework to maintain good drawing speed and extensive customizabillity. Changes: Completion of the migration to omniORB3/POA, an abstracted console, new reference counting, new clients, a much smaller server, more stability, and fixes for some memory leaks.
About: Pronto! is a full-featured mail client written in Perl/GTK+, and a continuation of the development of CSCMail project in Perl. It supports multiple POP3/maildir and mbox accounts, imports/exports MBOX, and has full search features and VFolders, sortable filters, threaded message list, a nested folder list, drag and drop, and inbound and outbound attachments. Changes: APOP support, reorganization of the config dialog to use a columned tree and new advanced options section, binding the Delete key to delete messages, and small bugfixes to encoding and external signature generation.
About: The PTlink IRC daemon integrates some of the most advanced features needed to manage an IRC network into the stable core from Hybrid IRCd. It is fully integrated with PTlink IRC Services and PTlink Open Proxy Monitor, providing a great platform for anyone starting an IRC network. Changes: Extended +S antispam functionality blocking other channnels publicity, a fix for a bug on m_svsjoin, a sendbug script, and a protocol extension to fix a current protocol breach (future version upgrades will require all networks to upgrade to this version).
About: phpSecurePages is a PHP module to secure pages with a login name and password. It can handle multiple user groups (each with their own viewing rights), store data in a MySQL database or a configuration file, and be used to identify your Web site viewers. It also has multiple language support as well as session support for both PHP3 and PHP4. Changes: An improved user level system with config for minimum user levels, and new Russian, Romanian, and Catalan language files.
About: Mckoi SQL Database is a full featured SQL-92 relational database management system written in Java. The software can operate as either a dedicated multi-client, multi-threaded database server, or can be used as an embedded database inside a Java application. The engine is designed to be easy to use and maintain and versatile for sophisticated database development tasks. The software provides a JDBC 2.0 driver. Changes: Support for OUTER joins, ability to store database files on read-only media such as a CD, and numerous bugfixes.
About: Postfix is an attempt to provide an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. Postfix attempts to be fast, easy to administer, and hopefully secure, while at the same time being sendmail compatible enough to not upset your users. Changes: Fixes for a few loose ends in release 20000921: the experimental nqmgr needed to be updated for an internal protocol change, and the C compiler on Nextstep, Openstep, and MacOS X needed working around for missing features.
About: The NeatSeeker project provides a simple, all-Java indexing and searching framework with an out-of the box HTML indexer and a fast search application servlet for small to medium websites. NeatSeeker does not require a database backend, as it uses serialized Java objects for storing the indices. Changes: A move to Sourceforge, new stemming capabilities to both the indexer and the search engine, and the package includes a Java version of the ubiquituous Porter's Stemmer for English.
About: SWIG is a software development tool that connects programs written in C and C++ with a variety of high-level programming languages. SWIG is primarily used with common scripting languages such as Perl, PHP, Python, Tcl/Tk, and Ruby, however the list of supported languages also includes non-scripting languages such as C#, Common Lisp (CLISP, Allegro CL, UFFI), Java, Modula-3, OCAML, and R. Also several interpreted and compiled Scheme implementations (Guile, MzScheme, Chicken) are supported. SWIG is most commonly used to create high-level interpreted or compiled programming environments, user interfaces, and as a tool for testing and prototyping C/C++ software. SWIG can also export its parse tree in the form of XML and Lisp s-expressions. Changes: This is a bugfix release.
About: Xtheater is a media playing tool for Unix. It has a flexible plugin architecture to allow for different UI and playback plugins. It has a plugin for a GTK UI, an smpeg-based plugin for playing mpg and mp3 files, and an AVI plugin for AVI and ASF files. It features seek, fullscreen, doublesize, GL rendering, and more. Changes: This is a bugfix release.
About: The SMS Server Tools send and receive short messages through GSM modems or mobile phones. Messages are stored as text files in spool directories. External programs or scripts of any language can be used to filter, inspect, and answer messages automatically. Events and alarms can be passed to scripts for integration in monitoring tools. The program generates performance statistics as well. This daemon supports the following message formats: 7bit GSM, 8bit ISO, 16bit Unicode, 8bit binary data (ringtones, logos, wap-push), user data header, flash, delivery report. Changes: This release adds some bugfixes and support for ASCII mode.
About: Quick Image Viewer (qiv) is a very small and fast GDK/Imlib image viewer designed to replace the classic image viewers like xv or xloadimage. It features setting an image as an X11 background with a user-definable background color, fullscreen viewing, a screensaver mode, brightness/contrast/gamma correction, real transparency, zoom, slideshow, support for external programs, and more. It runs on Linux (libc5/glibc), Solaris (SunOS), FreeBSD, and HP-UX. Changes: This release changes the up/down and left/right moving of the image to be more like Windows' ACDSee.
About: Zope is an application server specializing in content management, intranets, and custom Web applications. It is written in Python and has a large global community of developers and companies. Changes: This is a bugfix release.
About: Bastille Unix (formerly Bastille Linux) aims to be the most comprehensive, flexible, and educational Security Hardening Program for Red Hat (Fedora Core, Enterprise Linux, and original Red Hat), SuSE, Gentoo, Mandrake, and Debian Linux, as well as HP-UX and Mac OS X. Virtually every task it performs is optional, providing immense flexibility. It educates the installing admin regarding the topic at hand before asking any question. The interactive nature allows the program to be more thorough when securing, while the educational component produces an admin who is less likely to compromise the increased security. Changes: This release resolves some stability issues, and includes some initial work on RH7.0 and Mandrake 7.0/7.1 updating.
About: jEdit is an Open Source text editor written in Java. It has many useful features, such as syntax highlighting, bracket matching, regular expression searching, multiple file search and replace, folding, and keyboard macros. jEdit also includes a powerful plugin architecture that allows more than 80 plugins to be downloaded and installed from within the editor. Changes: This is a bugfix release.
About: csnes9x is a small and quick snes9x front end for the command line console. It will search a specified directory for ROMs, allow you to chose one, and then it will load it up in snes9x with any command line options you wish to pass to it. Changes: This release includes the ability to log snes9x errors to a specified logfile, reformatted help message, and a change of e-mail in documentation/messages.
About: ttf2pt1 is a converter of various scalable font formats (most notably TTF) and of the bitmapped BDF format into PostScript Type 1 fonts and metrics (.pfa, .pfb, .afm). Changes: This release includes euro sign support, improved makefiles for Windows, support for multi-level composite glyphs, vastly improved processing of the outlines which is done mostly in floating point now, and one important but yet mostly invisible change, a modular interface for font parsers.
About: Chromium B.S.U. is a fast paced, arcade-style, top-scrolling shooter. It uses OpenGL for graphics, OpenAL for sound effects, and FTGL for text rendering. Changes: Tweaks and bugfixes.
About: eXtace is a visual sound display/analysis program. It requires Esound (esd) for its audio source. It includes various fast fourier transforms of the audio data in realtime. Its displays include a 3D wireframe flying landscape, a 3D textured flying landscape, a 16-256 channel graphic EQ, three types of scopes, a 3D "spike" flying landscape, and two forms of spectragrams. The 3D traces can be picked up, manipulated, and displayed at nearly any angle. eXtace also features a 3D direction control widget for controlling the angle and speed at which the trace runs away and a gradient/colormap editor for changing the colormap to suit your needs. No OpenGL is required. Changes: A fix for a colormap save bug, drawing routines thread fixes, autoconf fixes, and cleanups to the drawing routine code.
About: Recall is a framework for writing distributed, fault-tolerant, replicated storage servers. Changes: A replicated block device for Linux, cleanups to the Storage interface in the Perl API, and a fix for a message delivery bug.
About: WavSplit splits large WAV files at given time positions. To find out split positions you can use any WAV player or editor with a time display. Also included is a tool which helps you renaming the created tracks. WavSplit is based on wavplay and GNU split. Changes: Initial announcement.
