[»] AWESOME!!

P-3 600 MHz, 1.5 GB RAM, GeForce 2 MX 400 64 MB RAM, 1280X1024 Res. This thing Rox.

Now, all we need is a full 3D desktop environment: File Manager, Desktop, everything. That would move everyone over to Linux quick.

[»] Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0"
by Youssef Hmamouche - Feb 25th 2004 11:00:17

My XFree86 logs show that XFree86-DRI was loaded. Here's the full error when I start 3ddesktopd:

bash-2.05b$ ./3ddeskd
Could not find more then one virtual desktop!
Daemon started. Run 3ddesk to activate.
bash-2.05b$ Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
3ddeskd: glXIsDirect failed, no Direct Rendering possible!
3ddeskd: Please configure hardware acceleration. Exiting.

Hardware:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. 86C270-294 Savage/IX-MV (rev 13).

This is XFree86 4.3.0.

Thanks a lot.

The S3 can't do OpenGL and this project requires that.

[»] cool
by bouks69 - Dec 16th 2003 09:28:38

Very cool...
but what could be great is that it makes a refresh of the screens without changing them(in background)...
but very nice anyway

[»] Cute !
by pheldens - Aug 25th 2002 18:27:27

Looks stunning ! nice piece of eyecandy !
Really impressive on a high res desktop, but gets a bit sluggisch on my P4 2.26Ghz w G400max (hw accel) when using more than 3 workspaces.

(and it doesnt do 1600x1200 over here but that could be some texture mem limit)
