Advene (Annotate Digital Video, Exchange on the NEt) is aimed at providing a model and a format to share annotations about digital video documents (movies, courses, conferences, etc.), as well as tools to edit and visualize the hypervideos generated from both the annotations and the audiovisual documents. Teachers, moviegoers, etc. can use them to exchange multimedia comments and analyses about video documents. The project also aims at studying the way that communities of users (teachers, moviegoers, students, etc.) will use these self-publishing tools to share their audiovisual "readings", and to envision new editing and viewing interfaces for interactive comment and analysis of audiovisual content.

Changes: This release mainly integrates bugfixes (especially in the HTML editor) and some usability enhancements.

Changes: This version integrates the shotdetect application, and can display an activity trace to provide a feedback about the current activity. A new Edition history view displays the elements that were most recently edited or created. Static views can be exported as static HTML files, so that video analyses can be uploaded to a Web site. The Mac OS X version now uses the gstreamer video player, which offers frame-by-frame navigation. A summarized change list can be found in the changelog: http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/advene/tags/0.36/debian/changelog?view=markup

Changes: This release has usability enhancements, new video control shortcuts (numeric keypad), Braille display support through brltty (if is it installed and configured), and speech synthesis support through eSpeak. The workspace can be automatically saved and restored with the package. It also fixes bugs found in previous Win32 versions.

Changes: Along with the usual usability enhancements, this version offers a new ActiveBookmarks view that allows you to create annotations through the definition and interactive reorganization of bookmarks. The play/pause shortcut has been changed to Control-Tab in order not to interfere with standard shortcut behavior. New actions are available in dynamic views: Braille (braille output of annotations), OpenStaticView, and state-related actions.

Changes: Along with usability enhancements, this version offers a new finder view a-la Mac OS X and a more flexible quicksearch behavior (multiple keywords, exclude keywords). The timeline view now supports selecting a range of annotations and displays screenshots along the timescale. New actions are available in dynamic views (text-to-speech synthesis, PlaySoundClip, and more).
