[»] Can't stop using it!
by Rafael R. - Jan 4th 2005 03:35:10

I use it under XFCE and I'm sure I won't change it for a while...
A suggestion...
Why don't you (or someone else) make an Aero Firefox skin? To mantain the theme's look I must use the crappy default one.
It's also a bit difficult to find suitable icons, but I can't ask that much... ;-)

Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you like Aero and even use it :)

I'll see what I can do. But I haven't done any Firefox themes until now. I planned on having a go at it. It might just take a while, until anything useful emerges :)

I'll complete the set of stock icons. Apart from that, I don't have the time and skill to create a complete icon theme, I'm sorry.

If you are using the GTK 2 theme, you can use either the GNOME-fx or GNOME-fx-blue themes with 1.5 or greater, and firefox will be skinned with the Aero theme.

[»] Heaps of praise but also a question.
by duane - Mar 31st 2004 23:32:44

I love the Aero theme! I can't stand all those plain
grey-on-grey themes or the eyeball searing white
ones. I like dark widgets and dark backgrounds with
low contrast text on top of it. Aero suits the bill just
fine. I change the the gtk2 background on mine to a
starfield to match the space backgrounds I use but
keep the rest as is. Lovely.

One problem I've had is with the Gimp however. If I
start gimp without a current config directory in $HOME,
it brings up its configuration window which normally
overrides the config in the gtkrc and uses its own
colors. This doesn't happen when I'm using Aero
however. Instead I get black text against the
background which renders it illegible. I've written a bug
report to the gimp developers but they seem to think
it's a theme issue. I'd like to solve this one way or the
other, any ideas?

Thanks again!

[»] XFWM4 Theme
by uberpenguin - Jan 19th 2004 09:27:48

Any chance you might port the metacity theme to XFWM4 (XFce4)? If not, would you consider including a port made by myself?

I've included your XFWM4 port into the Aero 1.7 theme package, and I've released it as a new Aero project branch. Thanks for contributing.

[»] Beautiful, but can I change one thing?
by Progman3K - Jan 18th 2004 08:42:55

I really like this theme, it's very classic and elegant.
But I would like to change one thing:
Is there a way to either change the window background (the black an grey checkerboard pattern) to either be transparent, or to a solid color?

I'm a newbie and I am not sure how to do that.

Thank you.

You can change the background by replacing ~/.themes/Aero/gtk-2.0/bg.png and ~/.themes/Aero/gtk/bg.png with a pixmap of your liking.

[»] Widgets
by Mystilleef - Dec 8th 2003 17:24:38

This is by far one of the most unique themes I've seen. I only have one issue with it. Real estate. :-) It will do wonders if you could make some of the widget size smaller.

Oh, the title on the title bar is very hard to read. I think it is better to center the title in the title bar and also make the height of the title bar smaller.

On, a monitor with a smaller resolution it's difficult to use themes that have large widgets. Smaller widgets save a lot of space, while not being intrusive.

All in all, excellent work. I look forward to enhanced future versions.

[»] thanx

Thanks for the great theme. Its just what I've been looking for. You should probably post it to art.gnome.org. Thats where most people look for their themes.

Thanks for the nice comment. I will probably submit Aero to art.gnome.org too. But they don't seem to have a mechanism for updating projects. And I consider Aero "under development" still.

[»] Where's the gtk for this??
by corvi42 - Oct 13th 2003 12:07:53

Hi there,

In your Aero theme screenshot you show the calculator with Aero-styled buttons, but in the tar file, only the window borders are given - where can I get the gtk controls?

Cheers,

The GTK 2 theme is about ready for submission. But I still have to test/tweak/testagain/tweakagain some of the details. All in all it should take only a few more days before I deploy Aero GTK.
