The portal is now fully customizable by using the
Web GUI. Either XML file or SQL database backends
may be used for portal configuration and user
profiles. LDAP integration was added for user
authentication. Many standard portlets were added
for more out-of-the-box functionality. The package
is bundled with several default skins.

Changes: JetSpeed 1.0 b2 introduces a new API named Portlets. A Portlet is similar in design to a Servlet/Applet except it runs on the server.
