Ara is a command-line utility for querying the Debian package database. It has a query syntax allowing you to search for boolean combinations of regular expressions. It includes a simple syntax and line-editing. A graphical interface, xara, is also provided.

Changes: Some Debian packaging issues have been fixed. Files have been recompiled for Ocaml 3.08.3.


Changes: Build problems were fixed, a workaround was implemented for GTK2 crashes with Qt themes, minor syntax and speed improvements were made, and typos in the man page were fixed.


Changes: Another bug in set computation lead to incorrect results, and the -noborders option was ignored. These flaws have been corrected.


Changes: This release uses thread-safe PCRE for regular expression matching. Unicode support has begun. There are major speed improvements. There is now an HTTP daemon version, in addition to the CLI and GTK 2 interfaces.


Changes: Bugs in set operations leading to incorrect results have been fixed. The -noborders option is no longer ignored.
