BannerFilter is a redirect script for the Squid proxy server, designed to block advertising banners on the Web. Unlike most other solutions, it also automatically closes popup windows.

Changes: This version fixes a bug causing the redirect script not to notice if you removed something from exceptions.data and reloaded with "killall -HUP".


Changes: BannerFilter now uses a configuration file, instead of making users edit the Perl code to configure it. There is now an exceptions file, so you can list hosts that you wish to view all the time. This includes (partial) wildcard support so that partial URLs can be blocked. Logging is fixed and is now a little more intelligible.


Changes: A bug causing banner.data and popups.data to be ignored has been fixed.
