Beaver

Beaver is an Early AdVanced EditoR, for Linux and other Unices (and even Windows); in other words, it's a text editor that is intended to be light-weight, but full of useful features for programming, from editing of web sites to C coding. It is based upon the GTK+ toolkit, supports many languages, and offers functions such as automatic indentation and syntax highlighting.

Re: Coolness!
Indeed. I have a low end system and Beaver starts as quick as gnotepad+ or nedit, and a lot faster than ScITE or the gnome editors.

Love It
Up until now I'd been using gEdit, which was very good and stable but was missing a few key features, such as being able to change the case of the text. Beaver works great and looks good too. The only things I'd like to see in the future is the ability to indent chunks of text and a function similar to diff to get the differences between 2 files.

There's gotta be something wrong with your comp cuz it opens up fairly quickly on mine. Great program. It's exactly what I've been looking for. It's like gnome's gedit and kde's advanced editor combined together. Perfect...
