Bitzi's Bitcollider

The Bitcollider utility allows users to uniquely identify and submit files to Bitzi's community metadatabase project. The Bitcollider can be used to identify any local file and has support for extracting metadata from MP3, WAV, Vorbis, JPEG, PNG, GIF, AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and QuickTime files. Users can quickly look up all the known information about the given file in Bitzi's metadatabase.

Changes: This release calculates and submits the KZHASH identifier used by the latest version of Kazaa. A video format plugin is included which extracts information such as frame rate, frame size, duration, bit rate, and codec from most AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and QuickTime videos. A problem in the original construction of the TigerTree hash value has been corrected. Calculation of MD5 and CRC32 values is now optional, controllable by command line options (or for the Windows GUI version, registry settings). It should compile and run properly on Mac OS X.

Changes: This version includes a new image plugin that supports JPEG, BMP, and GIF files. Also included are fixes for two crashes: an ID3v2 genre extraction problem, and submitting files from a compressed NTFS volume. This version now reports bitprints in base32 and also supports a new command line option for reading in submissions from a file.
