CSBoard is a small GUI for gnuchess. It is written in C# and uses gtk-sharp and mono. It is simple, but allows you just play chess with SVG graphics and native look and desktop theme usage.

Recent releases


Changes: This release contains a new viewer for PGN files. Printing, replaying, and exporting is supported. Try it with the csviewer command.


Changes: This is mostly a bugfix release. gtk-sharp and mono requirements were bumped to fit the recent state. Build warnings were fixed, as well as some nasty bugs. GNOME integration was increased by adding support for gnome-doc-utils and a common about dialog.


Changes: This release adds animation and possible move highlighting. It has very detailed user documentation and better error handling.


Changes: This version has a lot of improvements. UI options now help you customize the look of CSBoard. All user preferences are now stored in GConf. And the Most importantly, the Crafty and Phalanx engines are now supported (via GConf key).


Changes: Improvements are: a build process with autotools, keyboard navigation, GNOME integration like support for the .pgn MIME type, icons, and documentation. Internationalization has also been started. A Russian translation is already in place.
