It is translated into 17 languages and has a modular design that allows extra modules (such as time sheets and inventory) to be added in easily.

Recent commentsCosting
Hi,
I dloaded the latest version. Looks promising except on one area. Instead of calculating the cost from the users table, the cost is calculated from the cost code. And estimated cost is not automatically filled in the project area, with respect to the no. of tasks, users allocated (and the associated cost)and time period of the tasks. In the same way the actual cost is not calculated from the task log and actual time spent by the resources by the users and their relative cost. Or am I missing something?
I would love to have a two gantt bars, one representing the planned one, the other showing the actual one, so that I can compare my project delays.

Anything in particular about it that you found wanting? Your comment otherwise is not very constructive.
Practically useless
Too bad MS Project Server is that expensive...
Not quite ready
looks like a very promising start. however, the current version 1.0.2 does not fully implement task dependancies properly. for example if Task A must be finished before Task B and Task A's end date changes you must manually update Task B. Without this functionality dotproject turns into a glorified todo list. In fact, the development team doesn't use start and end dates at all for there own tasks on dotproject itself.
Worth another look
If you have been wondering what has been happening on this project, there is a new admin team, a new set of developers, new translations and a new focus on improving and expanding dotproject.
Work is starting apace on 1.1, with an all new permissions system and a number of other improvements. There will also likely be an interim 1.0.2 release out in the next few weeks.
