[»] Nicest Theme
by N/A - Aug 6th 2000 07:12:15

Dude, this is the nicest theme I've ever used. It's clean and solid. For the GKrellM theme, I use Tigert's hacked bluesteel theme (tigert.gimp.org). The only thing that I'm trying to fix now is the Eterm theme. I have Eterm 0.94 and to my understanding, it uses a different pattern for its configuration files than the one that was packaged with eSlate. Here's a screenshot: http://www.ferrol.uklinux.net/screenshots/images/kozumo.jpg Keep up the good job, Nolan =)

[»] default borders
by N/A - Dec 15th 1999 14:21:21

I am considering changing the default border styles to the RESIZE_MINIMAL. The old ones would still be included. I would like some feedback on this. - Nolan

[»] Pagers
by N/A - Dec 10th 1999 11:16:13

How about some vertical pagers? That slide shut up an down instead of left and right. Is that even possible?

It's quite possible - I'm actually working on it right now.

[»] iconbox graphics
by N/A - Nov 27th 1999 12:14:41

If you've downloaded the new eSlate tarball you'll notice I completely reworked the iconbox graphics. The reason for this is that the old design limited the arrangement of ib components - this version lets the user doing anything they feel like. I would like to know how people feel about this change. -Nolan

[»] More on buttons
by N/A - Nov 24th 1999 00:02:05

I noticed that someone mentioned rearranging the buttons in the eSlate. As my $0.02 suggestion, I'd recommend putting the close button by itself on one end of the titlebar and any other buttons on the other. This makes it harder to close windows by mistake. It's a little thing, but a nice touch.

Your suggestion is a good one - actually, I have reworked all of the border graphics to be thinner than they currently are. I also added a border like the one you're suggesting. I'm not done with the configuration, but it shouldn't be long. Nolan

There is no gtk theme yet. However, Nolan said he'll be making one himself perhaps soon. I tried a shot at it but I sucked.. so you can try :)

Yep, there isn't currently a GTK theme for eSlate. But I plan on writing one in the next week, as well as a GKrellM theme to match. I will send a mass email when it's out. Nolan

by N/A - Nov 20th 1999 18:45:57

I have reworked the borders to be thinner but with the same design. My guess is this will be prefered by many. If you want to see and example, just email me. Nolan

[»] Nice stuff
by N/A - Nov 20th 1999 14:57:18

This is one cool theme. Both original and usable. But would you be so kind and change the title bar buttons' order a little (and maybe add some more of them, but it is not that important), so people don't come saying that "all those free software folks do is copy Windows". Hey, we don't have the freedom to innovate. We have an obligation to do so. :-)

You have a good point - I've been thinking about adding more borders (ones with different button arrangement) Thanks, Glad you like the theme. Nolan

[»] yet another excellent theme
by N/A - Nov 19th 1999 12:09:14

this theme kicks ass, totaly. couldn't think of anything that should be done differently. best theme ever in my opinion, and much cooler than E-SGI which was good, too. --evilgnu --dfree@inna.net

Glad you like the theme. I wanted something in the way of a contrast to the IRIX implementation of Motif - eSlate is just that. Let me know if you think of any augmentations for the theme. --Nolan

Isn't the "Irix implimentation of Motif" 4DWM?

[»] Neato
by N/A - Nov 19th 1999 05:44:25

This theme is really nice but I think the window borders are way too big. Mabey make them about the size of the brushedmetal ones. Also, those line things around the corner of an unshaded window border are fugly. If you would change those two things this theme would be really really nice. Of course, it's your theme, so you don't have to change them if you don't want to. >:)

    [»] Window borders -
    by N/A - Nov 19th 1999 09:07:09

I've also had the feeling that the borders are too big. That's what inspired the creation of the MENU and dialog borders - which I prefer. Let me know if you think those are closer to a good width. Thanks for the suggestion --Nolan

I like the theme very much.. However, all the borders look good but they need to be thinner maybe you could scale them down somehow not to be that big. The menu border is ok but I would like the decorations sometimes :-) so I guess scaling down all the borders just a bit would be cool !

        by N/A - Nov 19th 1999 14:56:42

I run really high resolution on my Linux box, so it's hard for me to judge whether the border width would be visually pleasing at other resolutions. I've started working on a set of borders that look identical but are thinner. Thanks for the suggestion. Nolan

I run at 1280X1024.. which is pretty high, they are still a bit big.. I guess at 1600X1200 that's ideal. However, I would love to see your thin borders :-)
