Etherboot

Etherboot is a free software package for making boot ROMs for booting Linux and other operating systems on x86, Itanium, Hammer, and Hyperstone machines over a network using Internet protocols, namely DHCP and tftp.

Changes: This production release should now compile with gcc 4.x. In addition, a number of drivers have been updated, including e1000, MCP51 and MCP55 (nvidia), pcnet32, natsemi, sis900, and tg3. NetXtreme II cards are now supported.

Changes: This production release adds support for several 10GB NICs, and allows static boot information to be stored in a ROM. There are also a number of bugfixes, including VMWare support and better PXE compatibility.

Changes: This production release adds a few features and support for several new NICs and variations.

Changes: Etherboot now supports booting by the PXE method. It also supports booting on LinuxBIOS from storage devices supported by the FILO subsystem. Drivers for many NIC models were added. Ports to the Hyperstone and ARM (no MMU) CPU architectures were added.

Changes: This release contains a number of updates, but is most notable for the addition of support for filo, btext console, and the ability to boot from USB disks. These features are only used when combined with LinuxBIOS at present. Driver updates include cleanup and fixes for eepro100, rtl8139, sis900, tlan, tulip, and via-rhine. Two new drivers were added for mtd80x and Davicom based cards. Numerous other small housekeeping and cleanup changes.
