The newly released Fire
1.0 has support for Jabber over SSL. I
am unsure about the status of Jabber chatroom support, but if
you file a feature request I am
sure it will be added in the future.

Fire.app
Fire is a very good instant messaging client. We are standardizing on the use of Jabber at my workplace. The only impediments for using Fire as the OSX Jabber client is the lack of support for Jabber chatrooms and SSL. If it supported those two features, it'd be a great client.
