Fireflies is an OpenGL screensaver for Linux (using xscreensaver) and Windows. It also works as a standalone program, which allows you to move and rotate the camera. Swarms of bugs fly around the screen leaving colorful translucent trails that get blown around by the wind.

Changes: A bug which broke everything was fixed. A bug which caused mode settings to be off by 1 was fixed.


Changes: A default "do nothing" mode was added as a standard to compare other modes against. Red Hat and Debian binary packages are now available. The build process now supports compiling against MesaGL.


Changes: Xscreensaver support, which was broken in 2.01, is now fixed.


Changes: Long-term slowdown was prevented by imposing limits on the number of flies and baits. Minor tweaks and feature additions were made. autoconf is now used to ease compilation, and was tested on Linux and Windows/Mingw.

Wow. I actually had something like this before called ambient flocks, but with options and better modes (MATRIX MODE!)... this is much, much better.
