The Free Bangla Fonts project is a volunteer run project dedicated for creating Free, high quality, completely Unicode compliant Open Type Bengali fonts. This project aims to be the central resource for getting and developing Free Bengali fonts. The initial aim of this project is to release a full set of Bengali fonts that supports all the major Bengali Yuktakhars (conjuncts).

Changes: Mukti Normal has been removed due to copyright issues. There are adjustments in the lookup tables, updates to conform to the Unicode v 4.0 standard, init forms for ekaar/aikaar, and all half forms have been made distinct from halant forms.


Changes: The font now uses the Free Bangla Font template. Many of the glyphs were redone and now look slightly better.


Changes: This release is based on the Free Bangla Fonts Template font. It also adds better Latin glyphs from the Free Fonts Project.


Changes: Latin glyphs looks much better. There are major changes in the OT tables, the conjuncts have been cleaned up and are more organized, a number of new glyphs have been added, and the font has around 650 glyphs now. Finally, Akaash now covers all the Bengali code points as defined in the Unicode specification.


Changes: The header file of the font has been corrected so that it works in Windows 2000/XP. The style has been changed to slanted. New conjuncts have been added, and conjuncts have been converted to composite glyphs. There is support for the new Bengali OT specification and preliminary support for Assamese.
