gDesklets provides an advanced architecture for desktop applets, tiny displays sitting on your desktop in a symbiotic relationship of eye candy and usefulness. New desklets can be put together by simply composing widgets in a XML file. Advanced users may also create new Controls easily.

Changes: A new and fast geometry engine was added for laying out elements. Support was added for custom menus, custom mouse pointers, and desktop struts (areas which cannot be covered by maximized windows). Opacity support was added for text labels. The <button> configuration element was added. Desklets can be scaled freely to fit every desktop. Visual feedback is given while loading desklets. Neither gtkhtml2 nor GConf are required any longer.
