Thank you very much for this driver. It has been working here for more than
two weeks without a flaw.
Keep up the good work!

Support for PPPoE
by Alex Dusty - May 4th 2002 12:18:27
Hello,
is it possible to use this driver with a provider offering the ADSL
service with the PPP Over
Ethernet protocol?
Thanks,
Alex

We have talked about it but the main problem is the developers haven't got
access to a pppoe service to test it. Its conceptually quite easy and
should be easier with the next version on the aal5 decode code in 1.2

Do what exactly? If your looking to implement pppoe you probably want to
start with reading RFC's 2364 (PPP over AAL5) and RFC 2516 (PPPoE) and see
if you understand how the encapsulation works.

There is now a patch the hacks pppoa together with Roaring Penguins pppoe
client. Check out the project page for details.

Just to make it clear I'm a small part of the team. I just happen to post
the freshmeat entry as well. As far as RPM's are concerned Mandrake alreayd
make some so we could use their spec file. The only issue is packaging up
the file that contains the microcode. For that we would need Alcatel's
permission.
Alex.
