exactly what I'm looking for, but...
gprename worked great for me for a while, but after a while it stopped working. now I always have problems installing Gtk Perl and I haven't been able to use the program since because of this. Is there any program that works almost exactly like this or is it possible to see some new versions of the program to come out in the near future?

Yea, here it is
A few things to work on, like starting with whatever $PWD
it is invoked from, and should default to $HOME, but otherwise
is what I was looking for.
