Historical Event Markup and Linking Project
Historical Event Markup and Linking Project (Heml) provides an XML schema for historical events and a Java Web app which transforms conforming documents into hyperlinked timelines, maps and tables. It aims to provide a most information-rich interchange format for historical data, and thus add a historical component to the growing movement for a 'Semantic Web.'

Changes: This release updates XHTML and SVG to render properly in IE and Firefox 1.5. It has a new map colour scheme.

Changes: This release corrects handling of XHTML+HEML documents and the sample documents themselves.

Changes: SVG output in timelines and dynamic maps was made compatible with Firefox. An XML database backend was added. Experimental RDF output is now offered.

Changes: This release provides a DateTime element and xslt which converts rdfical into Heml. It increases the lower end of the dynamic range of timelines so they can display events separated by seconds.

Changes: This release builds within Cocoon 2.1 as a block, and therefore has access to eXist database's xquerygenerator for future development. It uses XSLTC where it can for speedups in filtering.
