I-Man

I-Man is a Web application which serves as knowledge, general information, or contact database. It aims to be easy to use and tries not to confuse its users with too many options or parameters. Records are simple text, but all kinds of files can be attached to them as well. Users can create multiple categories of data, and the application features (optional) fine-grained user permissions. Multiple languages are supported, and Firebird/Interbase, MySQL, SQLite, or PostGreSQL can be used as a database.

Changes: Much of the code has been rewritten for this release. File- attachments can now be added to records, and URLs can be displayed as links in the content area. The currently selected style has a preview now. For Firebird, this version makes use of generators, no more select (max) hacks. The entire application has been converted from HTML 4.01-transitional to XHTML 1.0-transitional, with more CSS for layout, which results in much tighter HTML. The database schema has been sanitized.

Changes: Searching is now case-insensitive in the title and content of a record. There is initial SQLite support. This release should work under BSD and other *nix variants as well. "Single Mode" has been implemented, which allows you to see only the selected record in the lower frame, and not all together. When deleting a category, all the records assigned to that category are deleted as well. This was not the case in prior versions.
