iClip

iClip is a multiple clipboard/scrapbook application. It lets you quickly store, organize, and access bits of information, and copy-and-paste and drag-and-drop clippings to and from its multiple "clipping bins". The clippings can be text, pictures, URLs, sounds, etc. They can be arranged into unlimited groups called "clipping sets".

Changes: This release has a new menu system that moves the main iClip functions from the global menu to a set of menus directly within the iClip window, making it much more intuitive to use. The contents of the Clipboard Recorder are now automatically preserved through iClip relaunches and restarts, eliminating the need for users to explicitly store it before quitting. Also new are significant improvements to the documentation, in that it now uses Apple's Help Viewer application, making it easy to print and search.

Changes: iClip now features a way to copy and paste from clipping bins using only the keyboard. Users can now set hot keys that make transparent labels appear over the bins, enabling users to quickly choose a bin to copy or paste with the simple press of a key. This version also includes improvements to non-Unicode international text handling, which is beneficial to those who use iClip with some older applications.

Changes: This version features a way to set multiple "Hot Keys" to quickly control various iClip functions, such as switching to different clipping sets, managing clipping sets, and much more. Also available is a way to set multiple "Hot Clicks" to quickly control various functions of individual clippings, such as deleting them, editing their name, and much more. Hot Keys and Hot Clicks benefit users in that they save time by instantly accessing commonly used functions without having to use menus for the functions.

Changes: It is now possible to add clippings to a clipping set by dragging and dropping to the icon at the top of the iClip window. This is very useful for quickly gathering information like URLs and pictures from Web sites. A preference for the Clipboard Recorder was added for choosing whether the newest recorded clippings are stored at the beginning or the end of the clipping set. This is useful for creating lists of text clippings when the order needs to be preserved. A preference was added to give more control over how pop-up previews are shown.
