BitRock Cross Platform Installer
BitRock InstallBuilder allows you to create easy-to-use multiplatform installers for Linux (x86/PPC/s390/x86_64/Itanium), Windows, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris (x86/Sparc), IRIX, AIX, and HP-UX applications. The generated application installers have a native look-and-feel and no external dependencies, and can be run in GUI, text, and unattended modes. In addition to self-contained installers, the installation tool is also able to generate standalone RPM packages.

Changes: Support for IBM iSeries, OS/400 was added. Handling of symbolic links in the uninstaller and UTF-8 support for Desktop shortcuts were improved.

Changes: An issue with distribution detection on RHEL derivatives was fixed. A new action list for help display was added. The installer now returns an error code if an error occurs in postInstallationActionList even if the error does not stop the installer.

Changes: The GUI builder was improved. Installers are generated with autoupdate capabilities. Right-to-left languages are supported. Quickbuild now allows you to repackage only new or changed files. A shutdown action was added to reboot the machine on Windows. The ability to change the version information of generated Windows installers was added. External included files will now be serialized to separate files on disk when using the GUI. Several fixes were made. New rules, actions, and properties were added.

Changes: A GTK segmentation fault was fixed for Linux installers on recent Linux distributions. The enableLinuxLegacySupport project property was added. You will now need to manually enable this setting if you need to support Linux versions older than 2.3 (older than Red Hat 9). The --version information was added to the window's right-click menu properties. progressText is included for all actions. A console command line builder was added to Windows. Support was added for HTTP Basic authentication in httpGet and httpPost actions. A file is not created to save a request result if no file was specified. Many more features and fixes were made.

Changes: New 'encodeBase64' and 'decodeBase64' actions were added along with a new 'componentTest' rule. Link creation now supports abort/retry/ignore. An issue with OS X case-sensitive HFS+ file systems was fixed. The 'showProgressDialog' action was fixed for Linux 64-bit platforms. Missing text messages on OS X root installations were fixed. An OS X firewall warning thrown when running the installers was fixed. A new 'uninstallationLogFile' project property was added. Installers now show a meaningful error message when the specified encoding is incorrect or not supported. New convenience 'isTrue' and 'isFalse' rules were added.
