JILetters assists children with learning the alphabet, and becoming more aware of the appearance of letters. The user is presented with a window containing the alphabet; when one is selected, another window appears showing a suitable image, and the letter is read aloud.

Recent releases


Changes: This release has been ported to Python/wxPython and will be developed using pure free software. This is a complete rewrite, and the old Java version will no longer be maintained.


Changes: This version presents the user with a choice of letters with which to work.


Changes: Users can now choose through a GUI which letters they want to display. This allows them to focus on sets of letters rather than all 26, allowing children to learn just a few at a time.
