jIRCii is a cross platform Internet Relay Chat client. It is fully scriptable using a Perl-like language called sleep. The focus is to provide a console client experience with the advantages of a solid GUI. It includes DCC/CTCP support, the ability to connect to SSL servers, and over 65 built-in commands.

Recent releases


Changes: This release fixes a memory leak with closed IRC sessions. It has been updated to the latest Sleep 2.1 library. This adds over 50 enhancements and fixes for scripters. Functions to get the width of a string and a window have been added. Windows now open maximized if the active window is maximized. The scripting documentation has been cleaned up.


Changes: The scripting engine has been updated to Sleep 2.1-b25. /kill has been implemented and minor bugs have been fixed.


Changes: A text painting issue on Mac OS X 10.5 was fixed. A file send/receive issue with fresh installs was fixed. The menubar refresh lag on Mac OS X was reduced. WALLOPS support was fixed. The scripting library was updated to Sleep 2.1-b20. The internal documentation was updated.


Changes: This release updates the scripting engine to Sleep 2.1-b14 (from b6). A bug that featured popup menu clicks inadvertently opening query windows was fixed. A small fix was made to image caching to allow pseudo transparency to feel faster. Drawing of the window grow box was disabled on Mac OS X.


Changes: The scripting engine was upgraded to Sleep 2.1-b6. The /debug command was added to set debug flags for a script. This release features over a year's worth of fixes and tweaks.
