Q's Nicolatter is a Kana-Kanji keyboard input method server. It provides a common operation method over X applications which process Japanese text. It can be used with Gtk+, Qt, etc. applications. It supports the Romaji-Kana, JIS Kana, and NICOLA keyboard arrangements.

Recent releases


Changes: The license was changed to Common Public License V1.0. A compilation error with GCC 4.0 (on Fedora Core 4) was fixed along with handling of the 'JSERVER' environment variable when using the Wnn conversion server.


Changes: This version reads the system-global preferences when there are no user preferences, and continues implementation of the 'pobox' (Predictive Operation Based On eXample) kana-kanji conversion method.
