Network Security Toolkit is a live CD based on Fedora designed to provide easy access to Open Source network security applications. It should run on most x86 platforms.

Changes: This release is based on Fedora Core 4 using the Linux kernel version 2.6.17-1.2142_FC4 or 2.6.17-1.2142_FC4smp. Many new NST WUI features and capabilities have been included with this distribution.


Changes: This version is now available as a VMware virtual machine download. Linux kernel version 2.6.16-1.2108_FC4 or 2.6.16-1.2108_FC4smp may be used. A patch management system was added. The nstvmware script was added. The "look-and-feel" was enhanced. MySQL and PostgreSQL database servers WUI were added. dumpcap was added.


Changes: NTP, hardware clock, and system clock management were added. The NST WUI Web-based front-end to the tethereal network protocol analyzer was enhanced. A means to manage network packet capture files on a NST probe is provided. The NST WUI Web-based file system mounting page was enhanced. PDF rendering was added. Directory and file viewing pages were enhanced with auto refresh. Browser session saving was introduced for many NST WUI pages. The front-end to the NST WUI was simplified for beginner users. The Nagios networking tool was integrated into the NST WUI. Navigation and flow when using the NST WUI pages were improved.
