nxtvepg is a decoder and browser for Nextview, a subscription-free electronic TV program guide in the analog domain. Nextview EPG currently is broadcast in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, and Turkey, and it covers the schedules of all major TV networks in these countries. nxtvepg is an X11 application with a GUI based on Tcl/Tk and uses video4linux or BSD bktr drivers for data acquisition through a TV tuner card.

Recent releases

Changes: Several bugs in the Linux driver interface were fixed, which previously made acquisition fail to start on certain Linux installations. A bug in the Nextview EPG data stream decoder was fixed, which previously sometimes lead to display of corrupt or entirely blank network names. Various display bugs (related to changes for Tcl/Tk 8.5 compatibility) were fixed, such as incorrectly displayed "special" characters in the main window and configuration dialogs and even a crash upon program start with thread-enabled Tcl/Tk libraries.

Changes: A grabber tjat extracts EPG data from teletext pages has been added. Import and merge of EPG data from XMLTV files has been implemented. The protocol for interaction with TV applications such as xawtv and tvtime has been extended. A pure data acquisition daemon has been split off for use on systems without X libraries.

Changes: Robustness against transmission errors has been improved in the Nextview EPG data stream decoder. Interaction with the TV application "tvtime" has been fixed. A workaround for a bug in the bttv driver in Linux kernel 2.6.16 has been implemented. The German translation of the documentation has been improved.

Changes: A bug in the database export in XML format was fixed. Several bugs were fixed in HTML export, and the layout was improved. A new command line option "-outfile ..." was added to simplify script-based data export. Network identification by VPS/PDC during interaction with TV applications was improved. Support for reading the channel tables of the TV application K!TV 2.3 was added. A bug in the handling of the daylight saving time switch was fixed.

Changes: A bug in Nextview acquisition parameter handling was fixed that caused acquisition to fail if both French and German providers were used. A bug in timezone calculation for Belgian provider VT4 was fixed. A bug in text searches was fixed that limited case-ignoring searches to the first 258 characters in description texts of merged databases. The ability to store expire-time filter settings in shortcuts was added. Text foreground colors in the program list were made configurable. Text formatting options in user-defined columns were extended.
A simple tool for managing the urge to do "just one more thing".

I think I can reply to this with even less words than in this "error report": Don't do that.
Long version: nxtvepg comes with it's own Bt8x8 driver for M$ Windows. All other applications and drivers (including BTWincap) which might access the TV card should be terminated before starting nxtvepg.
If that doesn't help, please provide a comprehensive description of your problem - but please don't do that here (esp. not for M$ related problems), instead use the discussion forum or mailing list at the nxtvepg project pages at sourceforge.net. TIA.
