Observer is an autodiscovering network management system focused primarily on Cisco and UNIX networks. Networks can be autodiscovered using CDP data and SNMP scans.

Recent releases


Changes: Primarily bugfixes to 0.5.0. Some GPL-licensed code has been removed, and helper scripts added to download the packages instead. Many more absolute URLs and little script errors have been fixed. All users are recommended to upgrade.


Changes: Several bugfixes were made, particularly fixing issues with hardcoded paths and non-webroot installations. Much better CDP and Pseudowire tracking features were added. Basic MAC accounting and RANCID integration for configuration display has been added.


Changes: This release cleans up some configuration settings, adds more connection type rewrites, adds the ability to change device names, and cleans up IPv6 and CDP discovery. It has some security fixes.


Changes: IPv6 addressing, MPLS Pseudowire, and MPLS VRF tracking were added. Many improvements were made to the front page and general layout. Fixes were made to the permissions system and graph generation systems.


Changes: This release corrects a minor but show-stopping bug that prevented Observer from correctly adding discovered interfaces to the database. It also removes some old debugging output from the poller.
