pgAdmin III is an administration and management tool for the PostgreSQL database and derivative products such as EnterpriseDB, Mammoth PostgreSQL, Pervasive Postgres, and SRA PowerGres. It includes a graphical administration interface, an SQL query tool with grahical EXPLAIN, a procedural code editor, an SQL/shell/batch scheduling agent, Slony-I management, and much more. It is designed to answer the needs of most users, from writing simple SQL queries to developing complex databases. The graphical interface supports all PostgreSQL features and makes administration easy.

Changes: This release includes hundreds of enhancements and bugfixes, notably including a new dockable user interface, a greatly enhanced query tool, an XML/XHTML database schema reporting engine, and support for PostgreSQL 8.2.


Changes: Steps and schedules are displayed in the Job dialog. Interval precision is displayed properly. Script rval is returned when executing shell scripts from pgAgent. A slider is used instead of a spin control to avoid a wxGTK bug on the status form. Users may edit roles where appropriate. Roles with the appropriate permissions may create roles and DBs. A bug in the pgpass code that could damage files was fixed. The correct encoding is used in the View Data filter options. The user is warned if files cannot be written. PkgInfo is installed into the Contents directory in the appbundle. GNU vs. BSD xargs is detected when completing an appbundle.

Changes: Support was added for new PostgreSQL 8.1 features, the Slony replication system, job scheduling, Unix domain sockets, and graphical EXPLAIN. password handling was enhanced. A new look was created. Many bugfixes were made.


Changes: Apart from bugfixes, this release includes PostgreSQL 8 support, an improved user interface, improved status information and meta-data displays, enhanced edit grid, and the addition of a permission granting tool. System administrative improvements include backup/restore, and log-viewing.
