Doom was the classic 3D shoot'em'up game from id Software. PrBoom is a game engine for playing Doom levels, which runs on both Windows and Linux/Unix systems. It uses the SDL graphics library. PrBoom a very faithful Doom port, with great effort taken to be compatible with as many original Doom levels and demos as possible.

Recent releases


Changes: Improvements and speed-ups were made in the rendering code. Bugs were fixed.


Changes: Software and OpenGL renderers are now built into the same program, and can be selected at runtime. A recently-introduced crash when saving the game at some big levels was fixed. Other miscellaneous feature enhancements were made.


Changes: This release increases various limits affecting maximum level size. There are also several minor enhancements to the automap, demo support, improved higher resolution support, OpenGL fixes, and fixes for some possible crashes.


Changes: Performance at higher resolutions has been improved. It now works okay with gcc 4.1. There are also some improvements on Mac OS X, as well as code cleanups.


Changes: This release improves the display code and fixes bugs.
