Quark
Quark is a daemon-like player that uses Xine-lib to play music. It features a front-end that sits in your system tray.

Changes: In this version, strange-quark's tooltip now shows the current song. Quark now exports a proper protocol for client notification. There is a large number of bugfixes, and it now loads the ~/.xine/config file for detailed configuration of its playback.

Changes: strange-quark now has a "Recent" menu with recent selections made from its file dialogs. quark correctly parses playlists created on a wider range platforms by treating '\n' and '\r' as line breaks. Sort directories when adding their contents to the playlist. Fix for playlists with absolute paths. An infinite loop is now prevented if quark is unable to play anything in the playlist, by only looping through them once. The audio device is now closed when the player is paused.

Changes: strange-quark supports entering URLs directly into its file dialog. Support for playing Realaudio streams has been added. Laggy pause/resume has been fixed. A 'ko' translation has been added. Bugs in net playlist parsing have been fixed. A bug where excess whitespace would be included in the filename has been fixed. The Playlist Editor that was not meant for inclusion in 3.0 has been hidden.

Changes: Xine-lib is now used instead of GStreamer. It is now possible to play .pls files from the Web. The backend and strange-quark GUI were internationalized to allow for language translations.

Changes: In this version, Quark can now be passed a .m3u or .pls playlist, and it will add the songs contained in the list. Bugs in adding recursive directories have been fixed, and bugs in gstreamer 0.6.2 have meant that a workaround has been written which only allows Quark to play MP3 streams.
