Remuco

Remuco is a duplex remote control system for Linux media players and mobile devices equipped with Bluetooth or WiFi. With Remuco, you can remotely control your favorite media player. You can switch to the next, previous, or any other media within the current playlist, browse your media library and activate other playlists, rate your media, adjust volume, and more. On the mobile device (the remote control), it displays information about the current media, including cover art.

Changes: This release adds support for VLC and TVtime. The Banshee adapter now supports seek control. Using the Rhythmbox adapter, it is now possible to jump directly to an item somewhere within Rhythmbox's media library. The client now has a quick reconnect dialog when a connection breaks. Finally, some documentation on customizing the client has been added.

Changes: The major enhancement of this release is the added player adapter for MPD. Minor enhancements include full screen control (for video players), fixed UI issues on clients (especially for Nokia 5310 devices and for the theme Karoma), and new options for player adapter configurations (port for WiFi connections, and size and type of images sent to clients).

Changes: This release adds support for Amarok 2 and Audacious. Support for Banshee, Totem, Rhythmbox, and XMMS2 has been enhanced. Support for Amarok 1.4 has been dropped. MPD support has not yet been ported to Remuco 0.8. The client interface has been improved, and two new themes have been added. Server side components have been rewritten in Python, which eases player adapter development and the installation procedure. In contrast to previous releases, all components are part of one package, so it is not necessary to download multiple packages anymore.

Changes: This release can manage remote control of several media players simultaneously. Integration of new media players has been simplified. Support for nested playlists in the media library browser has been added. Support for WiFi equipped mobile devices has been added. This version of the client has mainly been adapted to the new features of the 0.7.0 server.

Changes: This release can manage remote control of several media players simultaneously. Integration of new media players has been simplified. Support for nested playlists in the media library browser has been added. Support for WiFi equipped mobile devices has been added. The server has been redesigned to be a DBus service. This gives player proxy developers more freedom in how they implement proxies; DBus is the only requirement. The idea of basic player proxies has been added: simple text files that specify shell commands for player interaction.
