Slackware Administrators Security Toolkit

SAStk (Slackware Administrators Security tool kit) aims to provide a set of tools and utilities to install and maintain a reasonable level of security for the Slackware GNU/Linux distribution. At the same time, it should ease administration with a new centralized initialization setup and background information on what the daemons do.

Changes: Due to an error in the pkgmake.sh script, the previous 0.1.3.0 release would set the wrong permissions for the system's root directory. The pkgmake.sh script has been fixed, along with the directory permissions.

Changes: Slackware 8.0 support was added, while support for 7.0 and 7.1 was removed. The main script was split up into several categories of modules to make it easier to maintain and easier for end-users to add new scripts. A dialog interface, similar to the Slackware install, was added. (Dialog is a program that creates a color interface in a console or terminal window.) The Security checker, a port of SuSE's seccheck, is a set of several scripts which will check local security of the system on a regular basis.

    Small problem with rc.local
There's a small problem with 'src/etc/rc.d/rc.local'. Rc.local shouldn't be there. We created a new package 'SAStk-0.1.1.tar.gz' which does not have this file. The FTP location listed as an alternate is also corrected. For HTTP downloads, you should either delete the file (rc.local) yourself or get 0.1.1 instead.

We put in a request to freshmeat to change the HTTP download location to our sourceforge download page which lists all revisions instead of tying the tarball to a revision number so this does not happen again. Thanks.
