SchoolTool is a project to develop a common global school administration infrastructure that is freely available under an Open Source licence. The vision is to create a platform that is equally compelling for schools in First and Third World countries, that supports best practices in school administration, and that is readily customized to comply with local regulatory requirements. It is a Web application written in Zope 3.

Recent releases


Changes: Worlds of difference since the last release actually noted on freshmeat, but in particular, this release includes improvements to student contact information, the gradebook, and many bugfixes.


Changes: The release includes a wizard-based interface that can be used to generate timetable schemas. Emergency days can be entered to adjust the timetable for holidays, etc., and some days can be declared special, when the time periods are different than usual. Additional calendaring improvements were made through SchoolBell.


Changes: SchoolTool calendaring functionality has been ported to the Zope 3 architecture.


Changes: The entire application was ported to Zope 3. The UI was redesigned to integrate SchoolBell's design.


Changes: The user interface of SchoolBell and the calendaring components of SchoolTool have been extensively redesigned. This release includes the first phase of a transition of SchoolTool/SchoolBell to the Zope 3 environment, which will be completed for SchoolBell 1.0.
